This is going to be an issue. There are marks on the gears you need to line up correctly to get it right. Without a picture to look at it is very hard. You can start and get it close by rotating the crank until the number one is up all the way and the next cylinder to fire is down preparing for the compression stroke. Then you need to turn the cam shaft until all valves are closed for the number 1 and the intake valves on the next cylinder in the firing order are closing with exhaust valves closed. This should be roughly #1 TDC, close anyway. The Haynes or Chilton's repair manual will have photos of the timing chain area and what the marks look like and instructions on how to line them up. It would be a very good investment at this point.

Most cars have computer-controlled timing. If the timing belt was replaced correctly, there should be no need for any additional timing adjustment(s). But just one tooth off, and no amount of manual attempts to reset the timing will correct the physical timing error between the crank and cam.

How to change time belt on 1995 mitsubishi mirage


You do not really need a manual to change the belts. All Mitsubishi cars pretty much hide the water pump under the timing belt. You should buy all new belts for the car and if you have 150,000+ miles consider replacing the water pump at the same time.
You will have to take off the power steering belt .
First , take off the negative battery cable so you do not blow an expensive fuse on the positive battery cable clamp. Facing the back of the car , reach UNDER the alternator and loosen the bolt on the bottom right side, now loosen the bolt on the adjuster block on top, you can now turn the adjuster bolt and move the alternator to change the belt.
To take off the steering pump belt on the front of the motor, you need to loosen the nut on the back side of the pulley it holds the adjuster pulley in place . With the adjuster pulley loose , you can use the adjuster bolt to move the pulley to adjust the steering pump belt.
Now take off the upper belt cover, support the motor, take off the motor mount, jack up the right front corner of the car, take off the front right tire, take off the engine plastic under cover.
Line up the TDC timing mark on the cover to the mark on the pulley, using an air wrench to loosen the center bolt take off the lower pulleys,
take off the lower engine cover, observe the timing marks/arrows and highlight with paint (crank marks and cam marks should all line up if not , rotate the crankshaft one full turn.), loosen the timing belt tensioner pulley ,take off the timing belt, counter balancer belt if there is one. Now you can unbolt the water pump, scrape the gasket, and replace it.
The good news is, if you have tools,a compressor, an air gun(for lower pulley bolt), patience , and four to eight hours to kill, you can actually save money and do it your self.

If the timing belt is also called the cambelt where does it sit in a Mitsubishi L300 1990. Had squeking sounds when i was in gear with high refs. changed fanbelt whish looked not so good but dont know if i...


The timing belt is behind the plastic timing cover which goes around the whole front of the engine. If the timing belt is bad it could cause the sensor to set a code. I would order a book from Oreillys' and it will show you all the procedures plus they are good books to have. They even show you where your sensors are and how to test them. Follow up on previous question,timing belt Mitsubishi Nimbus 1994


due head cams before removing the belt you use a lock you can make one even out of bit of wood or a metal plate its just to stop the timing marks from moving. take the belt off and before putting the belt on get the cogs in the markings and lock them with the wood or the metal plate. but make sure you have another room to put the belt on. as an rule when the belt is on turn engine by crank with spinner one full rotation to make sure the timing is right before starting each time you turn the timing lines should all match up even on the adjuster if not adjust and do it again till its all lined up.
