Question about 2006 Jeep Commander
If you hear a 'chirping while going down the road with your foot OFF the brake petal, your wear sensors are warning you that you need to replace the pads before they get down to the metal. If you hear a grinding noise WHEN you step on the brakes, you are too late-it is metal-on-metal and you will have to do the pads and at least have the rotor removed and 'turned' so it is flat again or replace the rotor-so a $50-$75 brake job becomes a $135-$175 (or more) brake job.
