Question about 2001 Mazda MPV

1 Answer

Problem with headlights- only works on High beam. Is it possible to replace the bulb for low beam only or do I have to change the whole unit? basically, can it be repaired or do I need to buy a competely new unit. Another thing, the other headlight also packed up a week after. Does their packing up at roughly the same time indicate anything? Finally, i hear some crackling sounds when turning (sharp turns) on the left-hand side front wheel. What could the problem be?

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. It all depends on what bulbs your car has. Some vehicles have a bulb that has low/high beam in the same bulb, while others have multiple bulbs. It may also be your actual light switch. You could have a loose wire or it may be defective. As far as the wheels, it could be the suspension, brake pads, tie rod. You may be low on power steering fluid. If you have additional questions, feel free to ask. Thanks for using FixYa.

No power to right side (PS) headlight low beam plug socket, new bulb, fuse is good. High beam works, blinker works, park light works. just no low beam and doesn't register any voltage on volt meter.

check low beam fuse when switched on if it has voltage registering across the fuse ,if there is voltage across the low beam RHS fuse then it is possibly a pinched wire from the headlight running back towards inside of the car

CHANGED HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY ON 2002 JEEP LIBERTY ONLY HIGH BEAM LIGHT COME ON

Try flicking the mulit-function switch high beam on and off. There has been known problems with this switch, but mostly the first place to start is with some new light bulbs.
Or possibly your low beam filaments are burnt out. You have to replace the bulbs. Each bulb has a lowbeam and a high beam filament.

The low-beam headlights don't work. The fuses are fine as I replaced them with those of the high-beams and the high-beams worked. Other than both bulbs burning out at the same time what else could be...

Possibly the bulbs. Take a look at them; they have 2 coils per bulb, one for the low beam and one for the high beam. So it is possible that the more used low beam burns out before the lesser used high beam.

97 suzuki alto main beam on head lights not working but high beam fine

If there is only one headlight bulb you have to replace the whole bulb. Some cars have a separate high and low beam, some are together. Low beams usually burn out first since they get used more often and unfortunately have to be replaced even if the high beam still works. Hope that is helpful!

No headlights come on but high beams work as well as the other lights the fuses seem to be ok. Please help.

If your highbeams are working fine, you must be referring to your low beams not working I would simply check the 2 bulbs and make sure the low beam filament is good, theres a strong possibility that your BOTH low beam filaments are bad and require replacement of both headlight bulbs to get them working again its a very simple repair.....
