Abs light on Ford fiesta. Garage diagnosed as new sensor needed. New sensor fitted but light is still on. Do I need to get the Abs light reset at a garage or can I reset it myself?

Hi Heather, IM AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair!

Heather, if the garage installed the part then they should fix what's wrong with the abs. If you installed it yourself then go to the auto store and have them clear the code that's still in the abs. If the light goes out and stays out after driving awhile your good to go, but if the light comes back on then it could be the wiring or connector are even the wheel hub assembly. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website:

Abslight stays on. How to fix? This is a2007trailblazer?

First you need to have EBCM - electronic brake control module check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's . If the light is on there is a code stored . I think most part stores can do this and for free . After you find out what code is stored , looking up that code in service repair information for diagnostic trouble shooting chart would be next step . There are a few codes too.
DTC C0035 or C0040
DTC C0045 or C0050
DTC C0110
DTC C0131
DTC C0161
DTC C0186
DTC C0196
DTC C0201
DTC C0240
DTC C0241 or P0856
DTC C0244 or P1689
DTC C0245
DTC C0283
DTC C0287
DTC C0290 or C0292
DTC C0455
DTC C0550
DTC C0558

Find the code do the diagnostic's , fix the problem , wiring issue's , a sensor , bad module ,what ever it is . The light will go out then . Here is a sample of code discription .
• DTC C0035 Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit
• DTC C0040 Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit

How to reset a new abs module on 05 dodge ram 25oo

There is nothing on any vehicle other than an oil
change warning lamp & couple other gadgets that
get reset & they don't have to be,people just don't like
the dash light on
I assume you got a dash light
I would think you have checked for codes,
since you mentioned abs
What do the code charts tell you?
Should you be diagnosing that system
for failure,or was they some out of range
thing that caused the light to blink, stay on,codes
or no codes. eg: One time event
You will have stored events, if you look at enhanced
data on a professional scan tool
Can't reset things to make your light go away
If you clear ANY MIL Lamp you remove the data
your or a shop will need to work on the issues
It may work for you & never come back, but I
would want to know what happened ,why & what to do about it
Most repairs, not all, will turn off the MIL Lamp once the computer
runs checks on start up or whatever the monitor strategy is
I road test 20 miles min before clearing any data from memory,
dash light or not,it is in there
Bad Wheel Speed Sensors are most of the abs & trac control
lamp issues.
If you do one wheel hub do both,if that is the problem
Again,if a shop has made a repair, they should have cleared
NOT RESET the MIL lamp & all data

The person you have checking your vehicle is a parts replacer. Not a mechanic. He's just hoping to hit it right, eventually. Have someone check the sensors at the rotors my friend. Most likely one is out of position and not picking up the proper message for the computer. Yes, once the light is out, from all the other work he's done, it will come back on each time. That's just the nature of the beast. If it is just a sensor at the rotor out of adjustment, the light wont come back on.

Abs light stay on

When this light stays on it is warning you that the ABS control module has sensed a fault in the ABS brakes,it has turned on the light and disabled the system. What you must do now is have the ABS system module scanned for fault codes, then based on the code or codes the proper diagnostics are done and the problem parts replaced or wiring repaired.

Abs light stays on and i need to know how to do the clutch on a 2oo1 passat a good friend needs vw help we are a front end shop and there are no good shops to fix these things . also has check engine light...

ABS sensor or sensors have failed , cost about $40 each and need to have a reset done on a VW coded laptop.

Quite a big undertaking putting a clutch in a Passat not to be tackled lightly and without workshop facilities

With 172K miles the whole car must be on the edge of the cliff , think you are due to part company with it or dig very deep into your pockets for a fix

Abs light stays on

i believe you have to have the computers code cleared....try unhooking the battery for 10 minutes......that should clear out the computer.....if not bring to autozone or the local shop that runs odbc2 and tell them to clear the code.
