Question about 1995 Chevrolet Corsica

1 Answer

This just happened for the first time today,my car will not reverse. I kept reshifting it as I needed to reverse and finally after approximately 10 times it reversed, what could this be? This car was my mothers and was taken very good care of,I just acquired it 2 months ago. 2 things come to my mind I'd also like to mention in case it has a bearing on the problem. The fuel filter has not been changed in awhile as a mechanic said its a possibility in the change that the pump would need to be replaced,as it may break. Secondly I was towed 6 days ago rear wheels up,front end down.

Sometimes it can be the cable that runs from the shifter to the transmission adjuster

Car gave several coughs at 60 plus yesterday then seemed to clear today had spate of 10 / 12 coughs and splutters during which the engine light came on and the battery light ... changed down gear to 2 or 3...

Depending on the mileage of the vehicle sounds like the timing belt has stretched. If the coughing is when you give it gas but not when it is not under load timing belt would be my guess. Good luck and drive safe.

What could happen to an 85 olds mobile transmission

The same thing that happened to my '87 Chevy Celebrity transmission-about 10 years ago! It finally gave out, lost reverse, kept and drove it another year or so, then sold it for scrap. 27 years is a good long run for your '85.

Hello : The park/neutral switch may be the problem. Either it is out of adjustment or it is worn on the inside, It is mounted on top of the transmission where the gear selector cable attaches to the transmission. Recommend to let a professional Technician do the task.

you need to have your ignition change. what is happening is your tumblers in the cylinder have been worn out and will no longer recoginize the key as the right key. change your ignition and it will work fine.

99 Chevy Blazer won't go into reverse

it sound like you broke the sun shell in the transmission.

this is pretty common with the 4l60e transmission, when the sun shell breaks you will lose reverse and fourth gear, the only remedy is to replace the transmssion or have it repaired, the repair will require the transmission be removed and disassembled, you will need to purchase a new sun shell (get a heavy duty replacement) and a papper rubber kit for the repair, the kit costs about $80.00 and the new sun shell is about $65.00, just find a good trans guy to provide the labor.

2003 Chevy S-10: The Brake pedal pushes back on my foot as I'm slowing down or coming to a stop at approximately 10 mph. Otherwise the ABS Brakes are fine, and I don't get a light on the dash.

Hello crb72: My name is Roger and I will help. The problem that occurs the most is warped rotors. It is not uncommon for this to happen. Does not matter who was driving or what kind of vehicle. The rotors used on cars and trucks today are a lot thinner then they used to be.This means they are easier to warp. The only way to fix the problem will be to have the rotors turned. Be sure to have the pads looked at. This would be a great time to replace them. Please rate the quality of this this insures you received the correct answer. Should you need more help please just ask. I would be glad to help. Thank You for using FixYa. Roger
