Check that the battery has at least 13.6 volts and if it does the the starter solenoid may be bad as this occurs frequently these days with rebuilt starters. You may need to return the starter for a replacement but before doing that make sure both your battery cables are clean and tight at both ends.

A new starter was installed in our '96 Chevy Blazer but there is no power going to the starter. I was told to look for an inline fuse for the solenoid/thermal wiring? The starter clicks and there is...

hello ase tech here. so your starter clicks when you try to start the car correct. the first thing i would check would be the ground at the battery is it tight. next i would check to see if you can hand turn the motor over, by attacting a socket that fits the crank bolt and turn by hand if ok i would take the starter back where you bought it and request a new one.

1996 blazer just got brand new battery, but has moments where it wont start, it will click and all the lights come on, but it wont even attempt to turn over and then a few more turns of the ignition, and...

The "clicking" is probably from the starter selinoid. If it's malfunctioning you'll get that clicking and nothing else. Follow cable back from starter to locate selinoid.

96 chevy blazer just clicks and won't turn over.

Hi!
Check the main cable going from the battery to starter rellay.
This could be loose or there is corrosion on the connectors, clean this with a spray like WD40...
To find this cable start from the starter motor and work your way back to rellay and then to battery...
If not.
Check with multimeter if the rellay is fine.
else the starter motor is jammed... it will have to be opened and serviced..

Berry

96 chevy blazer, just clicks when trying to start, have checked all connections, clicking sound coming from distributor area. Had battery tested and starter checked, both ok.

The only thing you have not checked is a solenoid starter. This culprit is a small cylinder one on top of your starter in the attached images. If you don't want to replace the solenoid starter at 43 bucks, you can rebuild it with a repair kit at 1 buck. I have 2 images here for you reference. Good luck.e24a5ea.jpg 1bf93b8.jpg

The humming noise you hear is the fuel pump. It is probably your starter soleniod. If you hear an electric click under the dash near the steering column when you turn the key then the ignition switch is ok and your starter needs to be replaced. This happened to me last month.

My 1996 chevy blazor is having issues starting the battery was replace a month ago and when you go to jump start it the clicking over dosent start....

Sounds like the starter solenoid is going bad. Unfortunately it is part of the starter assembly on most GM vehicles. To replace it you have to remove the starter. Sometimes it is more cost effective just to replace the entire starter at this point anyway. Before you do this though, be sure to check all of your connections both on the battery and the starter to be sure they are tight and corrosion free.
