Overdrive indication light

My overdrive indication light isn't coming on on the instrument cluster indicating whether or not the overdrive is off, when the button in is pushed. 'what could be the problem. Truch runs great.

First of all, does it shift into overdrive, I would check and see first of all if you drive it and it does go to O.D. then press the button once, does it not go to O.D. you can do this while driving, when running about 45 press the button once, do you feel it downshift. if yes then your light is burnt out...if no run an OBDII check to see if there are nay codes for the transmission. if that checks out theN i would go for the switch being bad..

The esp bas light is on my 2009 dodge 1500 and it won't start


An Electronic Stability Program (ESP)/Brake Assist System (BAS) indicator is standard equipment on all instrument clusters. The ESP/BAS indicator is serviced as a unit with the instrument cluster.
The ESP/BAS indicator gives an indication to the vehicle operator when the Electronic Stability Program (ESP)/Brake Assist System (BAS) has been activated. This indicator is controlled by a transistor on the instrument cluster circuit board based upon cluster programming and electronic messages received by the cluster from the Controller Antilock Brake (CAB) and the Transmission Control Module (TCM) over the Controller Area Network (CAN) data bus.
The ESP/BAS indicator Light Emitting Diode (LED) is completely controlled by the instrument cluster logic circuit, and that logic will only allow this indicator to operate when the instrument cluster receives a battery current input on the fused ignition switch output (run-start) circuit. Therefore, the LED will always be OFF when the ignition switch is in any position except ON or START. The LED only illuminates when it is provided a path to ground by the instrument cluster transistor. The instrument cluster will turn ON the ESP/BAS indicator for the following reasons:
  1. Bulb Test- Each time the ignition switch is turned to the ON position the ESP/BAS indicator is illuminated for about four seconds as a bulb test.
  2. ESP/BAS Indicator Lamp-On Message- Each time the cluster receives an electronic ESP/BAS indicator lamp-ON message from the CAB indicating that the ESP/BAS system has been activated, the ESP/BAS indicator will be illuminated. The indicator remains illuminated until the cluster receives a lamp-OFF message from the CAB, or until the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position, whichever occurs first.
  3. ESP Full Off Textual Message- Each time the cluster receives an electronic ESP Full OFF indicator lamp-ON message from the CAB indicating that the ESP/BAS system has been manually disabled, an ESP OFF textual message will appear within the cluster odometer display. The ESP OFF textual message remains displayed until the cluster receives a lamp-OFF message from the CAB, or until the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position, whichever occurs first.
  4. Actuator Test- Each time the cluster is put through the actuator test, the ESP/BAS indicator will be turned ON, then OFF again during the bulb check portion of the test to confirm the functionality of the LED and the cluster control circuitry.
The CAB continually monitors the ESP/BAS circuits and sensors to decide whether the system is in good operating condition and the proper outputs to the components of the system. The CAB then sends the proper lamp-ON or lamp-OFF message to the Electro Mechanical Instrument Cluster (EMIC) (also known as the Cab Compartment Node/CCN).
For proper diagnosis of the ESP/BAS system, the CAB, the TCM, the EMIC, the CAN data bus or the electronic communication related to the ESP/BAS indicator operation a diagnostic scan tool is required. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic information.

Fuses ok,light in dash tested and works. But check engine light does not come on when you turn on the ignition. What else should I check? This is a ford ranger XLT 4x4 4.0L V6-245cid engine (pushrod)


The instrument cluster (10849) carries out a display proveout to verify that all warning/indicator lamps and monitored systems are functioning correctly. When the ignition switch (11572) is in the ON position with the engine (6007) off, the following indicators will illuminate:
  • CHECK ENGINE/malfunction indicator lamp (MIL).
  • CHECK GAGE warning indicator.
  • Charge system warning indicator.
  • Anti-lock brake warning indicator (ABS).
  • Safety belt warning indicator (60second proveout).
  • Air bag indicator.
  • An indicator is inoperative - CHECK ENGINE/malfunction indicator lamp (MIL)
  • Bulb.
  • Circuitry.
  • Instrument cluster printed circuit.
  • Powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650).
  • GO to Pinpoint Test N .

No overdrive?


The overdrive works in serial with the indicator light on the instrument cluster,( OD) light, from here there a positive that feed one section on the control. Fix the short on the dash cluster then your overdrive become to work properly

Vehicles equipped with tachometer have an electronic vacuum fluorescent transmission range indicator (PRND3L),odometer and trip odometer display. Vehicles without tachometer are equipped with a cable-operated transmission range indicator.
Instrument cluster is equipped with the following warning lights:
Battery voltage.
Cruise (speed control).
Door ajar.
Fasten seat belt.
Lift gate ajar.
Low fuel level.

I just bought an 06 eddie bauer explorer with 43,000 miles. the 4x4 lights in instrument panel do not come on at start up and do not light up when 4X4 buttons are pushed. The 4X4 low button has a light...


It depends on whether or not the drive train is actually going in to 4x4 mode. If the 4x4 is working properly, I would think it is just burned out light bulbs and not an issue with the operation of the system.

How to turn services light off for a 323 bmw


The way to reset any E46 BMW (3 series 1999-2005) is as follows:

Turn the car off and then hold in the odometer reset button on the left side of the dash. Turn the key to on but not start. Hold for a few seconds and the service reminder will show in the instrument panel. Release then double push the button and the service reminder will reset. If you just keep single pushing at that point, you will be surprised about all the information you can learn.

Service indicator reset


Good Day,

To reset remove the negative batter terminal, leave it disconnected for a few moments then re-connect. However if the light was tripped due to a mechanical problem it will continue to come on until the cause is repaired.
