Need diagram with good instructions to remove pully and reservior from 1984 econoline E350 power steering pump, Have a Haynes manuel which is not clear at all. Do not want to pay $195.00 for a ford manuel.

Good info and link. Our pump does not look like the one in the link. It is a tear drop shape and flater with a very short neck. Would it still be removed the same?

We were very happy with your help. My husband said now he understands what he is to do. Thank you.

The pulley is pressed on to the shaft and to remove this requires a special tool called a power steering pump pulley removal and installer tool, you can borrow these from most O'reilly/Kragen auto parts stores free of charge. If possible it is best to take the pulley off before the pump is removed from the vehicle. Instructions for using the tool come in the kit, but here are the general instructions for a Ford C2 pump. At the bottom of the page is picture of a Ford pulley puller, remember the tool removes and also installs the pulley.

Next to the process of rebuilding the Ford type C2 pump. I know a really great tech article with tons of pictures of the job, it is much better than My service manual which only contains general; instructions and few illustrations. Remember Factory manuals are intended for use by trained professionals, so much of the simple general knowledge stuff is assumed to be known by the technican. I will say as a retired Ford dealer tech that I would just buy a rebuilt pump, they are very cheap.
Here is the URL web link to the procedure to rebuild the pump: http://sputnikoffroad.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=22:rebuilding-a-ford-c2-power-steering-pump&catid=5:tech-truck&Itemid=13

You have a Saginaw style PS pump, it is a GM design used on some Ford models. These pumps are even easier than the For designed C2 pump to work on.

Here is a instructional video of the rebuild of the Saginaw pump like you have on YouTube, it even shows the use of the pulley puller special tool. And yes the reservoir just pops on and over O ring seal, do not force it, oil the O ring generously with PS fluid.

I have a 1984 class c motorhome on a ford e350 frame. I have no fuel at the carb. I pulled the output line on the electric fuel pump in the rear of the vehicle. ran the pump; no gas. I pulled the input...

I know this might sound odd but try replacing the ignition switch. I have a 86 c class e 350 and could not get the front fuel pump to run for the longest time. After changing everything else, I decided to change the ignition switch, and believe it or not the front pump came on and started working the way it is supposed to.

I have a 1994 ford E350 the right brake light and blinker are not

ON the bottom of the steering column next to the screw hole for the righ upper screw you will see another hole, turn the ignition to the run position and then insert a pick into the hole this will depress a retaining pin that allows the ignition cylinder to come out.

What type of power steering fluid & capacity for 1985 ford e350?

On yours, you can use atf but power "steering fluid" works just as well.. steering fluid is used as a specific requirement on later vehicles and if you use it in the 85, you can use the leftover to top off anything you have that is newer. (can't do that with atf)

HOW DO YOU TAKE OFF A POWER STEERING LINE? I HAVE A 96 FORD E150 5.8

When power steering hose replacement is required, follow these steps:
  1. With the engine stopped, remove the return hose at the power steering gear, and allow the fluid to drain from this hose into a drain pan. On some cars, the vehicle must be lifted on a hoist to replace the power steering hoses.
  2. Loosen and remove all hose fittings from the pump and steering gear.
  3. Remove all hose-to-chassis clips.
  4. Remove the hoses from the chassis, and cap the pump and steering fittings.
  5. If O-rings are used on the hose ends, install new O-rings. TRW steering gear cylinder lines have gaskets that are serviced as a unit. The old gasket must be pried out of the fittings in the housing before the new lines and gaskets are installed. Lubricate O-rings with power steering fluid.
  6. Reverse steps 1 through 4 to install the power steering hoses. Tighten all fittings to the manufacturer's specified torque. Be sure all hose-to-chassis clips are in place. Do not position hoses where they rub on other components.
  7. Fill the pump reservoir to the full mark with the manufacturer's recommended fluid. Bleed air from the power steering system. Check the fluid level in the reservoir and add fluid as required.

79 ford 460 pully diagram

power steering pump goes to the lower left(as you sit in the vehicle) A/C compressor above that and somewhat towards the centre. Alternator goes on the lower right(this the one that is not obvious) Hope this helps!
