Question about 1998 Nissan Pathfinder

1 Answer

1998 Nissan Pathfinder won't start cracks but won't start. It has done this before but would start after awhile. I have notice when driving it would start to loss power and RPM go down then goes back up and runs fine. Now won't start. Had codes ran on it and told me could be O2 sensor but not they say could be fuel problem. I don't know what to do don't have lots of money to put in this thing. Help

There are many possibilities, but the cheapest and first place to start is a simple tune up, which includes, spark plugs, air filter and fuel filter. These are listed in the order of most important, and any of the three could cause your problem. If these three have not been changed in over a year, definately start here. Hope this helps and have a great weekend :O) Peter

At the least the ignition module may have died from the overheated engine and likely the engine itself may be destroyed. Will it crank over smooth and fast or does it drag ?

No alarm discussions on an open forum. Take your proof of ownership and an identity document for yourself to a Nissan dealer and get the job done there.......don't encourage thieves...

Funny noise/squeal from LH wheel area on turning RH bends

Check your brakes for excessive wear or uneven wear. There are metal objects attached to the brake pads, that when worn they touch the rotors creating a metal squealing sound. This serves as a warning to prevent additional damage to your braking system, replace if pads are worn. If this isn't the case, if 4WD have your shafts, hubs bearings checked, if 2WD have your wheel bearings checked. Hopefully this helps

1998 Nissan Pathfinder dies

sounds like might have bad fuel pump. take fuel line off see if it has pressure. the pump should come on if key is turned on without cranking it. or it can be the mass air sensor. it can't monitor the load.

I have a 98 Nissan Pathfinder. I noticed that the brake light keeps on even while driving or even parked and keys out and car is locked. WHen i press brake pedal, i hear a click noise once. Just one click...

check the brake light switch. when you step on the brake pedal, it allows the 'normally open' switch to move to the 'contact position'. If it's not broken, it may just need adjusted, or a shot of WD40 if it sticks.
