If the timing belt is ok check the following : the rotor turns , the coil wire is not open circuit , the wire to the coil has 12 volts with ignition on, the rotor points to no.1on distributor cap T.D. C. compression stroke ,the timing belt may have jumped a tooth. the rotor may be earthing out also.

No fire at the spark plugs

If you have a 2.2 L , 5SFE engine, chances are high that the distributor is faulty. I've replaced mine every 3 years. I started reading about this, and found out that oil gets inside of it due to a seal going bad. According to others, the bearing for the distributor gets oiled from oil mist due to it's location under the valve cover. The seal fails and kills your coil or pickups. It's an all in one unit, so any one part failing takes the whole thing down. You'll know if your distributor is the same as mine if you do not see a 5th spark plug wire, you will only see 4 spark plug wires, a 2 prong plug, and a 4 prong plug. The 2 prong plug is the 12 Volt supply to the coil primary. The 4 prong plug is the pickup feed to the ECU.

No spark, 1988 Toyota Camry 3SFE 4cyl, 5 speed.

there is no crank sensor on this vehicles 2.0L. If you have power to the coil, new coil, cap and rotor try this if not done yet>>>Unplug coil power first....Try pulling off the distributor cap, and make sure the rotor is spinning with the cam...If this fails to spin, inspect the entire distributor assembly. If it passes, Inspect all the power circuit and wiring to the dist assembly, if ok possible ecu. i recommend having a mechanic check it out!! Hopefully this helps...please rate...thanks

Hard starting in wet weather

Replace the ignition coil under the distributor cap. What you have is a hairline crack in it, and, when it is damp, the spark arcs out of the crack to ground, no spark. This is a VERY common problem with older Camrys. Take the coil off, and look at it real closely. You will see black marks on it, from the crack. I am very sure that this will eliminate your problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa!

1991 toyota wont start in wet weather

Remove the distributor cap & examine the ignition ccoil under the rotor. Does it have any burnt spots or hairline cracks? If so, replace it. Also, replace the plug wires if you replace the coil, if they are more than 5 years old. Coil failures are a VERY common issue.
