Question about Ford Focus

Open Question

My dpf is clogged, the car is in limp mode and there is a huge rattle from the unit when the accelerator is pressed. Diagnosed as oil in the dpf and the cat converter is knackered. I am going to swap the part myself, very capable of car repairs and cant afford garage prices. The question is, Is the dpf simply take the old one out and put the new one on, the ecu would then read as no blockage and clear the fault, in theory?? right or wrong?? also is there anything important to note when dismantling/assembly. This sounds like either the TPS is unplugged or defective, if the connector is clean and tight then replace the TPS

Hello. I had the same problem when the Check Gearbox light came on, it would be very sluggish. It turned out to be a small sensor in the transmission that lets the car know what gear it is in. It started to go out slowly and only sometimes would send the information.

I have found a company that does these very cheap and are technicly brilliant i had many questions and they seemed to answer correctly with confidence. They supplied the part to me for £500, i have checked from this for the automotive solutions guys that did it for £450 but couldnt find them which is why i went with these. The company is and i spoke to someone Called Darrell. Where is the throttle body located?

the TB is a thing that contains the AIR throttle, the body holds

that TV throttle valve (or some call it a TP throttle plate)

this car has 6 engines, and varies by country. what country>?

what engine? (USA cars have a hood EPA tag, it states the engine)

sure cleaning it can help and for sure with throttle by wire.

the body gets full of EGR/PCV crap. (called GUNK) and if not

removed on high mileage cars, it jams the silly throttle by wire

motor. (and related\'s)

why not scan the PCM and SEE ALL DTC errors.

that be first. !!!

loose power has many causes, up to 50.

why not scan it first, (the CEL lamp to me is useless , unless stuck on)

scan it first.

this engine has many limphome modes (suzuki failsafe)

and will run slow. in limp mode.

scan it.

the TBW , throttle by wire has it\'s own limp mode.

the transmission too, and others.

The TBW has up to 4 TPS sensors. 2 on the foot and 2 in the TB

if ANY of the 4 , do not AGREE, you go to LIMP HOME MODE>

or end up like a Toyota and huge class action lawsuits.

loss of power, not transmission caused, (slips or skips gears)

is engine power loss.

cause by (top ones of 50)

1: never getting a tuneup. and for sure the 60k mile.

2: misfire, caused by 3 major things. ask.

3: flooding.

4: bad spark see #1

5: clogged air filters see #1

6: clogged fuel filter.

7: weak fuel pump.

8: and the big one is loss o f engine compression for huge list of causes.

9: not scanning the PCM and believing what it told you. !!!

My son has a 2010 seat Ibiza 1.6tdi, he has had a problem with the dpf filter, and tried the regen but with no luck. He has had the car into the garage several times, had the filter removed and checked,...

Take car to AutoZone and use free Diagnostic Code Reader to identify exactly were problem using code. Remember it isn't always the diesel particulate filter (or DPF). Fault normally is do to soot from diesel gas clogging the filter. If it were me I would have tune-up done every 4 years and have all filters (except Oil filter) taken out and blown every month to keep sensor from tripping.

I have a astra sri turbo diesel 2005 with a huge delay in accearation. its had a sum pipes cleard out that aparently was extreemly clogged but i still have the problem. the car is still very unresponsive....

Try replacing the bottom intercooler pipe with a silicon one the rubber pipe fitted as standard gets oil contamination and deteriorates/splits reducing pressure/boost to the turbo causing lack of power and eventually limp mode.
Silicon pipes dont suffer from this problem and should hopefully solve your problem.

your truck has gone to limp mode probably because of driving the truck for to long with the dpf light on without performing the dpf regeneration,the only way i know possible to use a diagnostic equipment,probably a MUT3 and have the ecu reset and perform a force regeneration afterwards,thats the only way i know possible

It has gone into "limp home mode", is there a "check engine light" on?, anyway you will need to get the car plugged in and diagnosed to see what fault there is

Engine system service required. Code P2584, P242F

P242F is excessive ash accumulation in the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). Cure is replacement of DPF at £400!
