Question about 1998 Isuzu Rodeo

Open Question

The side rear view mirror on my Isuzy Rodeo is dislodged, it just came off the vertical axle where it mounts and rotates in case of a collision with a tree or post. Inside the axle mounts a spring and a safety lock that keeps the spring in place. The problem I have is that there is no way to put it back together as the unit is sealed, the only way I see it is possible is taking out the mirror from its supports so there will be enough space to put the safety lock washer into the axle. Any ideas how the mirror is fixed ?

SOURCE: Rear Axle Bearing Replacement

That absolutely sounds like an axle (wheel) bearing. Jack up that corner of the truck and grab the top and bottom of the wheel, and shake like crazy. If you have any play whatsoever, it's a sign of a bad bearing (although you could have a bad one and not have any play - it would only mean the bearing isn't worn badly enough to cause looseness in the wheel).

You should be able to remove the axles without opening the diff up. If the axles have c-clips or snap rings on the ends inside the diff, you can usually get the axles out by dismounting them from the hubs and getting them free of all attachment except the diff, and then use a large flat-tip screwdriver as a pry bar. Use it right where the axle body mates to the diff, and lever it while you pull/yank/shake/swear at the axle, and you'll manage to pop the axle out of the diff. Sometimes it takes some time and profanity, but so far it's worked for me everytime.

SOURCE: I need a diagram to show me exacly how to put back

I don't know where you would find the diagram that you are asking for. The factory service manuals don't even have that. The best suggestion I can make is that you can remove the drivers door panel and use it as a mirror diagram so you can see where all the parts go.

Bad grounds. Ground point is on the drivers side, near the rear lights, mounted to the frame.

How do you remove rear view mirror from windshield

For your mirror, you'll need to grab the base and rotate it to the side about 90 degrees (not the mirror backing, but the part that mounts to the windshield). You'll then need to pull very gently and it should pop out. It should be similar to changing a light bulb.

How do you remove the rear view mirror from mount.

Is the mount made of metal or plastic? In either case, it will be attached to a "base" that is glued to the windshield. A metal mount should have a tiny little screw in it that pins it against the base. Loosen this crew and the mount should slide upwards (towards roof) off the base. A plastic mount should have a tab that you can pull on and slide it off upwards....

Toyota avalon inside rear view mirror came off of mount

sliding the rear view mirror onto the metal tab on the window. look at the part of the mirror that slides over the peice on the window. one end is open and has grooves on the side. you have to put the base of the mirror above the metal mount and flat against the window then slide it down over the mount. there may be a screw to hold it in place.
