Question about 2001 Chevrolet S-10

1 Answer

2001 S10 4.3 vortec 4x4. 230k Fuel pump and filter changed about a year ago. Plugs and wires change 6 months ago. The truck is very sluggish when accelerating, to the point where if I continue to depress the gas pedal, it seems like it is about to stall out. Not sure what to do next. Air filter? Fuel injector cleaning? Fuel injector replacement? appreciate any thoughts, jh

It could need a fuel injector cleaning or replacement if an injector has a problem.check the air filter as i`v seen them so plugged to cause this type of problem.there could also be a problem with the throttle position sensor(tps)not sensing the proper voltage increase when moving the throttle.i guess you installed a new fuel pump not a used pump but sometimes even a new pump is defective and the fuel pressure and volume should be checked.it`s also possible the catalytic converter is plugging up and needs to have the exhaust back pressure checked.at idle the pressure should be less than 1lb pressure and at 2,000 rpm`s should be less then 2.how dirty was the filter when it was replaced it could need changing again if there is alot of dirt in the fuel system.

When was it last serviced? How many miles has it done? Does it freewheel OK, no drag? Have you had any work done recently that may be a clue?

99 S-10 will not start in windy damp weather.

I would change all of it. Spark plug wires will leak under the high voltage w/o any outward signs. Unlikly fuel pump . Not effected by damp weather. If after all that and it still doesn't work, change the coil.
