The starter needs a starter drive, even if the engine is locked up the starter should still engage with the flywheel, but before i did any thing i would try to turn the engine over by hand, you can do this by using a socket and ratchet on the front crankshaft pulley mount bolt if you cant turn the engine over by hand try removing the drive belt and see if you can turn it then, if you can then check all the drive pulley's all should turn freely by hand, if the engine still will not turn by hand with out the belt then you most likely have sized the engine.

HI youtube12 - IT sounds like your starter deed not disengage from the flywheel and
by you driving it caused the starter over heat and short out .
You need to have the electrical sys checked out before replacing starter. OK

good luck ziggyone

Having some trouble starting the van. Have to click the key two or three time to get the starter to kick in. Where is the starter motor? I can't find it to check on it.

STARTER IS LOCATED ON ENGINE BELOW FRONT EXHAUST MANIFOLD..JUST TO THE RIGHT OF THE OIL FILTER ON V6 ENGINES..STARTER MAY ONLY NEED BRASS CONTACTS INSIDE..FAIRLY COMMON ITEM..STARTER HAS TO BE REMOVED TO ACCESS THESE CONTACTS..SHOULD HAVE BARRERY POWER ON MAIN CABLE COMING TO STARTER AND POWER ON SMALL WIRE WHEN CRANKING..MAKE SURE ENGINE GROUND IS OK AS WELL

Sputtering Belt in Engine. Slow shifting into gears.

Change the belt it sounds like it may be split somewhere.Just remove it and inspect it .

90% of all transmission problems are due to a defective battery. Why? because of the electronics they run off of. Now is it crank no start or no crank condition.
Start off with battery. Make sure its fully charged and terminals are a-ok. Then do starter checks . Let me know what you got at this point ,, cause chances are if battery died the codes are lost . Keep me posted I
'll get you threw it.
