Hi, the computer needs a relearn of the key. Instructions are here: http://www.bsecorp.com/files/techtips/FORD%20PATS.pdf
A good locksmith will come to your house and do this for about $100. I would get an extra key made while he's there.

My 2004 Ford Escape is doing the same thing....Theft light flashes always, even when Key isn't in the ignition. It will start, but unless u leave your foot on the gas, it dies. If you let it sit for a few hours, it seems to fix the problem & start, but who can sit around waiting?? Will your solution fix my problem also, or only if you have replaced the engine & computer???

The anti-theft system will flash slowly when it's working properly. It's only when it flashes fast that the car will not start. Your problem sounds more like a vacuum leak or a problem with one of the emission system valves. Please browse the following post and let me know if you need pics or instructions to check out the purge and EGR valves. http://www.fixya.com/cars/r7427423-fix_p...

99 explorer alarm disables. Motor dies

Anti-theft system can keep vehicle from starting , Alarm is for vehicle content theft , open door without key alarm sounds (horns) ! PATS - passive anti theft system PATS enables and disables the engine from starting ,it will not cause the engine to die ! You have some other kind of problem ! If the vehicle engine doesn't turn over an red light on top of dash flashes fast ,then you have anti-theft system problem !
PATS differs from the perimeter anti-theft system in that PATS enables and disables the engine from starting. If equipped, the perimeter anti-theft system protects the perimeter of the vehicle (doors, hood and trunk) and sounds an alarm.

Hi, you have to get the starter motor checked out as the engine will not turn over if the starter is faulty.

Turn your key all the way back towards you in the battery only postion. Then press and hold the red alarm flashing button til you hear the beeping noise it makes. This will disable your alarm and your car will start.

2000 ford explorer car starts while theft light flashing runs very rough starving for gas shuts off . changed the fuel already.

Theft light has something to do with the anti theft security system. I know that on GM vehicles, when the TRANSPONDER in the key does not give the correct signal or when the ignition reads the signal wrong, the computer will shut off the injectors or fuel pump. Sounds like this is your problem. THEFT light is an immobilizing problem. Thats why the truck wont run.

The Anti-Theft Light Flashes and car wont start

Use the other ignition key and see what happens. You can have a faulty key now. A transponder is embedded inside the keys head that makes the starter to work off the computer

Turn ignition key and motor starts up, next day turn ignition key and motor just turns over and wont start. could it be anti theft problem its a 2002 f150 4 wheel drive with 4.6 liter

This could be caused by either a faulty Crank Shaft Position Sensor or the anti-theft system. Try put key in, turn to ON position for EXACTLY 10 minutes, As SOON as anti-theft light shuts off or stops flashing, then IMMEDIATELY start the engine.

Car wont start, no clicks no sound

make sure you have power getting to your starter when you crank. check the small nut on the starter. should have 12 v or very close to it. this will tell you if your getting power to the starter or if somethign before the starter and something maybe with your anti theft system or not. its hard to say online cause of that anti theft. doest the light flash at all? the anti theft light?

if your getting power to the starter when you crank make sure your getting good power to the starter by turning on the head lights and see if they dim. a good starter will cause the headlites to dim when attempting to start. if nothing dims check connections. or assume bad starter motor. make sure your also getting power to the main starter stud as well.

good luck
