When was last tune up? All fluids, filters plugs, wires??? I'd start there and run a good fuel system cleaner through it and AVOID cheap gas.

Poor pick after engine head got repaired

hi Medovi

poor pick-up and less miles per gallon after engine head repaired is due to two things could be done wrong during repair,
1: wrong tappets clearance, witch is suppose to be 0.30 MM inlet, 0.40 MM exhaust
2. wrong timing setting ( timing belt setting )
better to get your mechanics to double check it
good luck

I have a 94 astro van when it is cold it will start but let it set it wont start till the engine is cold can someone pls help

When a vehicle start from a cold start it is in open loop,it gets more fuel, resistance on the sensors are low,so is the ignition coil. When you say you replaced the distributor is that with a pick up? You also need to inspect the pick up terminal for corrosion. and bad connection, this also goes for the ICM which is recommended when you replace the pick up and you need to inspect ICM connection for corrosion and poor connection

Not picking up gas when engine is cold, sputtering, bogging out especially when travelling uphill, Is this some sort of a sensor maybe??,the spark plugs are new. thanks

check fuel filter. it is starving for fuel. unless the fuel pump is bad. check filter first, then go from there. symtoms of a bad coolant sensor--poor cold idle, stalling, rich mixture retarded timing, slow idle speed, cold hesitation or stumble, poor fuel milage.

2003 dodge caravan is slow to pick up speed

Replace the fuel filter as a first step, but also check for a faulty fuel regulator. Find the fuel regulator near the throttle body in the fuel line and pull off the rubber hose and see if there are any traces of fuel dripping out of the rubber hose. The hose is for air only and fuel in that hose indicates the fuel regulator requires replacement. Also check for vacuum leaks in the hoses from the motor's intake to the crankcase where the PCV valve is located. Relatively small holes in that area will cause poor acceleration and a lean condition in the motor and loss of power or hesitation. Also check the plastic air tubes going from the air filter box to the throttle body area to make sure everything is tight and there are no holes. Holes or leaks there will cause hard starts and poor driveability.

Car starts but cuts out on tickover just put on new battery

if you mean the vehicle starts and cuts out immediately then it is an immobilizer problem. a diagnostic test will pinpoint the problem as a.fault will be stored in the memory. fault normally a poor connection at ignition pick up ring or at instrument cluster connectors. [immobilizer control unit built into cluster]. unplugging and reconnecting normally sorts out this fault. poor connection due to very fine pin connectors.
