I cannot get the AC compressor to work on a 1985 300D (turbo) - 123 body. I was able to get the compressor to work by bypassing the climate control relay. Have replaced the relay and still have the same problem... Anyone have any suggestions.
It,s the relay, in the fuse box...........its says kline on it, it pops out take it apart, you will see the burned out circuit. I re soldered mine, an the compressor came on. The part is expensive, autpartsworld has the best price. good luck Dana

I have a 2000 E430. I just did this job because my ac compressor froze. I went to O'reilly and bought a serpentine belt 6pk2310.(different brand has it as k0910). The numbers after the part number is the length in mm or inches. Eg. 0910 = 91 inches == 2810mm. Just follow the diagram and bypass the ac compressor. Tools: 15mm wrench for the pulley tensioner. It took me 5 minutes to do this job and be on the road again. It is very easy. On the Right is the normal diagram.
On the left is how you bypass the AC compressor on a E320/E430 2000-2002 engine.
Because in most cases the routing will not work without the pulley for the compressor being in use. That's why some engines have a dummy pulley available to use in place of the compressor.
Not using the compressor pulley can cause the belt to drive a pulley the wrong direction, or not have the grooved side of the belt on a pulley.
If the pulley on the compressor will not turn freely, then yes if a bypass pulley exists you would need to use it in place of the compressor. If the compressor pulley turns but the compressor is locked up, just unplug the compressor clutch.
On an AC compressor unless you are willing to take your car to a repair shop to replace the compressor then you will want to bypass the commresor, the same belt can be used the, diagram for it should be on/or near the hood or body of your car it will show you how to bypass the compressor.
PS: If you do not replace or bypass the compressor, it can if i remember right can cacth on fire. Either way it is bab to keep a compressor on the belt drive if it broken
You can bypass both the AC compressor and the middle serpentine idler pulley with a 6PK1790. The middle pulley is bypassed by running the belt straight line from the upper rear serpentine idler straight to the power steering pulley, then over the water pump (the smooth pulley powered by the back side of the belt) and down to the engine drive pulley (harmonic balancer), bypassing the AC compressor) This works fine. On 9.5 models, the same basic idea, but a slightly different sized belt.
front of engine down low on passenger side (access from under the car), there is no AC delete option so the compressor should be there and not bypassed, what is the question about the AC? it doesn't work?
