Question about 2002 Ford Explorer
Hello, Take your Explorer to an Autozone, Oreillys, or Advance autoparts store and get a free scan on the computer and the charging system. The ticking noise you hear can be the spark jumping from a bad sparkplug coil or wire.
Sometimes an arcing part will make a ticking sound and can charge the electronics with random pulses that can cause permanent damage. It is also possible your Alternator is working below capacity and will make the Battery fail when conditions are right.
This is something which should be checked before you are stranded. I hope you find my solution very helpful in keeping your Explorer operating.
