Around the edge of the value cover. The value cover bolts to the engine head (top) and the gasket fastens between the cover and the heads, All the cover and gasket do is direct the oil on top the engine values to flow back down into the engine block after this been pumped on top of the value stems. Gasket breaks and you have oil around the engine an on the ground. Also smoke when your driving around.

2008 Saturn Astra XR. Replacing the gasket kit.

You need to ascertain where the oil is coming from the Rocker Cover Gasket or the PCV valve?

https://www.google.com/search?q=2008+saturn+astra+xr+replace+rocker+cover+gasket

Replace the gasket and see if it continues. It is a pain to replace the PCV according to this. You may be able to clean it with carburetor cleaner when the rocker cover is off.

1996 Saturn sl2 emitting kinda heavy white smoke only when reved car was sitting replaced valve cover gasket and gas lines please help

Hi,
White smoke usually indicates there is a problem with the cooling system to the engine. Here are some things I would check.
Coolant
Radiator
Thermostat
Hose from radiator to thermostat
Most importantly, the valve cover gasket. When you replace this type of gasket, we need to make sure you torque down the bolts in a certain pattern at a certain torque.

I hope this helps.

I have a 2002 Saturn ls1. I put a code reader on it and I need to remove and clean egr valve. How is this done

locate your EGR valve. Saturn EGR valves are usually located near the intake manifold and throttle body. carefully remove vacuum hoses from the valve. then unbolt it. Remove the EGR valve and discard the old gasket. the valve has 3 bolts on it, 2 in front and one in the backside. if you can not let it soak for a few hours, then clean with shop towels and cotton swabs to remove built up carbon deposits. replace EGR valve with a new gasket. Good-day!

1996 saturn sl2 low compresion

You could do a leak test where you put compressed air into the cylinder to check for a valve problem. You have to take the valve cover off to make sure the valves are closed.
Either way you'll probably have to pull the head to check the gasket and head for a crack.

Car cut off in middle of driving would not start again. What's wrong?

I had this happen to me. It was the ignition module, an inexpensive fix as well. The module is located normally at the bottom of the distributer and in other locations that are model specific

I pulled a spark plug to change plugs and the spark plug wire boot was all wet from oil. The other three plugs were fine. The rest of the engine looked fine apart from the regular dirty engine look. No oil...

yes, the valve cover gasket is the only thing that can cause this, and yes, you have to remove the cover and put a new gasket in to fix. Please let me know if you have more questions.
