There are numerous things that could cause this. Something I do on mine every 6000 miles is get a can of carb & coke cleaner. I start the truck, and rev to 3000 rpms then I spary cleaner directly in to the TBI. This cleans pretty much everything out that has been built up over time. (Truck will try to die when performing cleaning. Keep sparying and up the amount of throttle just enough to keep running.) Now since the truck is a few years old I would next CK the vacum lines. They run all over the top of the engine as most people know but also on your truck they are what run the air vents moving from floor to vent to defrost, and if 4x4 the front axel hub locks. There is a vacum line that runs from TBI to the vacum canister (located on driver side behind head light) Then it runs down beside the radiator to the frame rail then down the frame rail to the cab. This line is mostly metal (just like the metal brake lines) and it seems get holes in it from it rubbing all sorts of ****. Then I would ck the throttle postioning senser, and timing. Also on these trucks the idle will be around 200 to 400 rpms higher in Park or Netural then if in Reverse or Drive. If it does not change more then likely you are having either problems with a sensor in the transmission, or Computer problems. Also if you have a TBI spacer it will rasie your idle most the time. If you dont have a spacer you will also want to try this. (you never know if someone else may of adjusted it) You will need to adjust your idle screw. NOTE: Keep track of exactly how much in or out you adjust this screw. This way it can always be returned to stock.)

Just put in a new throttle body in my Pontic g6 2007 and the idles is too high and not going to normal wait 15mins to relean nothing it's still high when shift gears it jumps and then the idle goes down...

Two possibilities spring to mind; either the new throttle body is faulty or the engine management needs to be told there is a new part fitted. This increasingly applies with self-learning systems; the default values should be restored with the correct diagnostic equipment.

Other possibilities are; there was more faults present than just the throttle body or somehow the process of replacing the unit has created another fault.

If a basic code reader has been used to diagnose the faulty throttle body without that diagnosis being verified with more sophisticated equipment it could easily have been a misleading diagnosis.

A further possibility could be the new throttle body is incorrect, even though it might appear identical. Precise identification and exact part numbers are everything with throttle bodies.

I hope this helps.

Warm or cold, my 4.7L V-8 jumps up to 1,500 rpms every time I start it. Then it immediately settles down to 600 rpms. I have replaced the TPS sensor, but the problem remains.

throttle has a lot of carbon build up need cleaning. if check engine light flashing code scan for code.but more likely could have clogged air filter.idle air control passage clogged dirty.check make sure throttle body linkage not binding sticking.

Automatic vehicle stalls at low rpm

This is proplem with the IAC valve , try clean the valve and if that doesnt work replace it.

An IAC (idle air control) motor is designed to adjust the engine idle RPM speed by opening and closing an air bypass passage inside the throttle body

Jeep stalls

I had the same problem... frustrating.

I picked up a repair manual at the parts store. I took off the throttle body and cleaned it with throttle body cleaner spray. I changed the Idle Air Control Valve (idle speed motor) which was very clogged. While I had the throttle body off I also changed the Map Sensor and Throttle Position Sensor. The manual will walk you through the steps. I had never done anything like this before. If I can do you so can you.
My Jeep has never run better. Good Luck

Idle problems

With the engine running at normal temperature, put a bent paperclip between gnd and ten in the diagnosis box (
Left side of engine bay above the shock tower)
Under a plastic bung on the throttle body where the big black tube fits in near throttle cable, turn the screw until the revs are about 800-900 rpm ,Remove the clip and your done!.
