You will most likely have to go the the VW dealer to retreive the code. If you have the original owners manual, the code is sometimes written in it by a previous owner or some dealers will write it in for customers.
You will need to show proof of ownership for the car at some dealers. They also may charge you for the code retrevial.

Some cars have the code elsewhere such as inside the fuse box cover or inside the trunk where you may find other info on that specific car like factory color codes, etc. And, this won't help this time but auto parts stores carry a simple device that plugs onto a 9V battery and then into the cigarette lighter. Once plugged in, it is then safe to disconnect the car's battery for service purposes.

My car radio DOESN'T WORK ,I HAVE A FAVOURITE CD STUCK INSIDE , HOW DO I FIX THIS PLEASE ?

Sounds like a programming issue with security... You may have a weak car battery and when you started the car there may have been a momentary significant dip in the voltage to the radio as the engine used most of the juice to get started. The radio thinks it was trying to be removed or disconnected and triggered a security lock. I you know how to unlock it with the given code or procedure do so, or you may have to have it serviced and unlocked by a dealer.

When i changed ignition on 2001 ford explorer I ended up having to replace steering column now it wont turn over & the anti theft light flashes & wont stop. what can be done to get car started?

At least you know the anti theft system is working. Jokes aside, I would think that the electronic security system is not recognising the new lock and steering column. You could try leaving the battery completely disconnected for at least 2 or 3 hours to see if the system resets. Reconnect the battery and then try again with the new key. You will have to put the security code back into your radio as well. If this doesn't work, it may need to go to a Dealer to reprogram your electronic system.

What happens if i change battery and dont know imoblistor code will it still connect

should be to replace battery with having cranking issues.just make sure ignition switch off keys out ignition. and turn radio off before disconnecting negative battery cable you may or may not lose radio code.if so dealership has to reprogram radio. your ECM may lose memory but it will reset after one drive cycle to restore driveability.

I have a 2001 Chrysler Town & Country LX. I turned the ignition switch on and off two times. When I turned it on the third time, the odometer started registering codes. The first code was p0302. ...

302 is misfire on cylinder 2. Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6715318-causes_gasoline_engine_misfires .
1684 is battery disconnected, which you caused when you disconnected it--you can ignore that. You probably have an intermittent misfire. Please follow my troubleshooting steps and let me know if you have questions.

I disconnected the battery and when I went to turn on the radio a code came up. I did not know what this ment so I was just started pushing buttons. 3error came up. I then had my son disconnect the battery...

Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for 3 minutes, and try again. The error message shouldnt be on when you insert the radio code, it wont work. I sure hope that the battery inside the radio didnt die, because it wont be able to retain the code, or the station presets. You will be amazed at how much better the aftermarket radios are. If unable to bring it back to life, do not hesitate replacing it with a well known brand. Most come with inputs to play pendrives and Ipods.
