Right off the bat have you tried a new gas cap? This code means you have a vacuum leak. In the evaporative system, in other words from the gas tank to the engine, part of the emissions system has to do with drawing fumes off the gas in the tank. This code will be real hard to give you a definitive solution for, due to - no info on, year, or model. As far as I know it is not related to the Ox2 sensor. If the car will run, you can try spraying WD 40 along all the small hoses and vacuum lines in the engine bay until you find the leak. Try up close to the air breather, intake manifold area. Hope this helps Fixya up.

You'll find that the problem is in the EVAP solenoid located by the Charcoal filter cannister underneath the car in the rear by the gas tank. The charcoal cannister catches gas vapors when the solenoid is closed (car not started) and lets the vapors through (open) to the engine to burn up when the car is started at operating temperature. When the solenoid is bad it doesn't open/close properly and the sensor doesn't detect a pressure buildup in the Charcoal cannister. Fairly easy to replace, a couple bolts and vapor lines to disconnect. It's a common problem. If no presure is sensed, there is a outside possibility your gas gap isn't sealing the vapors into the cannister but instead allowing them to excape to the outside air through the gas filler tube. Solenoid is around $50 - $80.

My 99 pontiac sunfire check engine light came on as I give it gas its really bogging stalling ?

You need to check engine codes to determine which circuit is giving you the problem. Have a visual inspection under the hood to make sure no hoses etc are disconnected

I have a P0446 code on my 2003 Alero. Replaced vapor canister vent valve. 2 days later same code is back but says vent control circuit. Where is this located?

Most likely a plastic vent line is kinked, pinched, or a fitting is cracked above the fuel tank. http://www.samarins.com/diagnose/p0446.html Very easy to miss this happening when reinstalling the fuel tank. Unfortunately, the only way to find out is to remove the tank and inspect. Don't forget, the evap system includes the fuel tank, which must be sealed. If the O-ring on the sender is even slightly out of place, you may not get a leak, but you'll get a code.

Hi. I recently bought a OBDII scanner because my 1998 toyota camry has a check engine light turned on. I got six codes, scary. P0171, P0446, P1130, P1133, P0171 pending, P0446 again. what do all this codes...

there should have been a code book with the OBDII. If not take the codes to a garage near you and ask them, they might give you your answers. If not, I will bookmark this page and see if I can find my book and get back to you. RT
