Question about 1995 Ford F350

1 Answer

The inside shifter has a lot of louse play when trying to shift from P to D or 1,2 gear. After removing the plastic trim, I can see a clamp that is holding the round linage, it appears that something may be missing at the clamp, like a bushing or shims. What can you tell me about this? This is a 95 F 350 7.3 DISEL automatic.

There should be a black bushing(Basic# 7L278) underneath the two clamps that surrounds the shift tube(Basic# 7212). While you have it apart you may want to pull the plunger(Basic# 7R264) out of the tube and make sure its not bent or damaged too. If you go into any Ford dealer and tell them the Basic #s they should be able to look up the exact parts that you want.

How do i replace gear shift light bulb in 2004 toyota sienna?

I just replaced the bulb on my 2004 Toyota Siena XLS. This is the bulb under the shifter plate in the center of the dash just above the center glove compartment. It was pretty easy once you have the process. Remove the trim on both sides of the radio in my it was the plastic wood trim. This will expose a 10mm screw on the right at the bottom of the part you just removed. You should use a panel remover tool or in my case the iPhone repair kit tool worked great. You need to turn on the ignition and move the shifter into numeral. Unscrew the shifter knob. Remove the plastic cover over the shifter with the seat heat and power adapters. This is one piece and it's held on by 4 clips. The bulb is just under the shifter panel and you turn it 1/4 of a turn to remove. The part number is 90981-11040-BULB and you will only find it at Toyota.

How to change shifter light on floor center console, ive removed the main bolts from the rear of console and the brass fittings inside the center compartment but can not get it to move, ive also tried the...

The shift indicator light is under the plastic trim panel on the center console.

Open the lid to the console, and the latch location, you will see the separation. Use a plastic trim tool in here, or along the sides.
The silver color where the cup holders are at is all 1 part, and comes out together. The shift indication scale stays with the shifter ( the chrome trim stays with the shifter as well ).
The spring clips can be tough to pop the 1st time. Best to use a plastic trim tool or if you do not have that, a plastic putty knife.

How do I change the shift gear bulb in a 1992 Toyota Paseo?

1.- Remove the rear part of the console. There are 2 bolts inside of the box compartment, they are under a felt.2. Remove the black plastic trim around the shift. It is clamped. You can use your fingers tips by inserting them around the inside cut out of the trim, rear side, lift the trim.
3. Remove a screw that holds the front part of the console at the drivers side. It is located under the steering wheel.
4. Then strecht out side way this front console as much as you can in oder to have space and reach the bulb. You may also have to remove some of the carpet. See picture
You can not see the bulb, so you have to use your fingers to fill it by following the wires up to the bulb socket.
5. Once you have touch the socket, hold it with you fingers and make a 1/4 turn to loose it and then bring it out to remove the bulb.

Chrysler 300 won't shift out of park

I had the same problem with my 05. I couldn't shift out of park. So, I checked brake pedal sensor, and wire linkage and they were fine. I took the center console apart and pulled out the shifter assembly and sure enough the problem was at the assembly. There is a plastic piece. that hooks to a small spring that snapped. I ened up renforcing it with a small clamp hose, and ever since its been functioning fine. I imagine I saved my over $500 bucks of repair cost and also wouldn't be surprize for others to have the same problem.

Removing an automatic gear shift out of a sc400

position the shifter into the drive position, pull down on the plastic trim directly underneath the leather portion of the shifter. theres two phillips head screws behind that. remove the shifter knob and the plastic piece. the trim will pop out if you pull directly upwards, disconnect the heated seats(if you have them) and the trac button. hope that helps.

1982 rabbit shift linkage

There is a plastic ball that is in the shift linkage that also wears and is usually not included in the shift linkage bushing kit. It is attached to a metal piece and is bolted to the shift linkage. This is generally the problem if you already replaced the bushings.

Sometimes the linkage is out of adjustment but I would make sure that the ball is not worn first. They generally cost $5.00 - $8.00 or so.

If you need to adjust the linkage you can try the following, but if the bushings or the ball is worn adjustment will not do any good.

There is an adjustment on the shift rod that goes from the shifter to the transmission. It is a rod slipped into a tube with a locking collar or clamp.

The way that I do this is to make sure that your vehicle is in 1st gear and then loosen the bolt on the clamp.

Make sure that the clamp is loose enough so that the shaft can slip in the tube. Put the shifter in the 1st gear position and then tighten the clamp.

You may need to fiddle with this a little to get it in just the right spot.

This is much easier if you have an assistant.
