Did you happen to weld the exhaust on the car with the car computer connected? If so you probably fried the computer or the ignition control module.

Looking for the starter relay in a 1998 tracer

1998 Mercury Tracer is equipped only with a 2.0L MFI SOHC SPI engine (Multiport Fuel Injection, Single OverHead Cam, Split Port Induction). This vehicle does not use a starter relay. Power from the ignition switch goes through the Clutch Switch (manual transmission) or the Neutral Safety Switch (automatic transmission) then directly to the solenoid at the starter. The solenoid is serviced only as part of the starter assembly. (SEE PICTURE)

I have a 98 mercury tracer the car starts and then turns off but before it turns off it makes a loud ticking noise very loud! and i dont know what it is any help?

It sounds like it could be a broken rod. It's also possible that a valve has stuck open and is being hit by a piston. What you need to do now, is to take the spark plugs out and do a compression check. You may also see damage on one spark plug, which will tell you whether or not to even bother proceeding with the compression check.. If there is metal all over one spark plug, you have some serious damage.

98 merc tracer wont turn over....please helpme...

when tracers stop out of the blue like this, it can be a number of things. #1 is fuel pump failure or pump relay, or fuse. check to see if there is perssure at fule rail. check fule pressure regulator. #2 is ignition coil failure, or no spark. check plug wire from coil for spark. that will get you going in right direction. good luck.
