Most likely YES Was it making a rattleing noise for several months before thats a sure sign there on the way out And the won't run over 10 to 20 MPH that means the exhust can't get out . You could start it and check the flow from the tailpipe before you replace it just to make sure rev it up in park and see if the flow increses . But the convertor is likely the problem . A lso check your fuel system out something made this happen and a lot of times its caused by insiffant fuel delivery witch makes the engine run to lean and that over heats the convertor . Look at the spark plugs if they look white and have spotting on the electroids then its fuel related you don't want to replace it and brun up another one

My 1997 Jimmy runs fine in idle when I take off the vechile is fine until it reaches 20 mph it won't accelerate and the rpms increase up to 3000 but no speed. What's wrong it's a 4 wheel d

Sounds like 2nd gear in the transmission is slipping. Cars usually shift at 15-20 mph from first to 2nd. First check the trans fluid.

Strong gas smell inside 97 grand marquis for the past 2 of today, car won't go over 40 mph now (transmission?) when on the highway for the first 5-10 minutes

sound like your cats are gone bad or your exhaust system is clogged at some point. you may also have your o2 sensors checked.

My gmc jimmy isn't getting gas good up to 30 mph i replaced the fuel filter and all the spark plugs

You might have bad fuel injectors or the fuel pump may be going bad. You may also have low compression, therfore you loose power. Is your check engine light on? Do you have any codes?

Draging, really loud when starting

was the starter recently replaced? if yes, needs shims to aling the gears properly. This is a trial and error process. If not, well you need a new starter.

1997 s10 2 wheel drive truck. 4.3L v6 makes a loud noise as the car accelerates fast or under load. When running 55 I can release the gas pedal and the noise is not audible. I can put the truck in neutral...

Your noise sounds like it is power train related,If you have eliminated the engine,Since it doesn't make the noise while moving and in neutral.
It sounds like a universal joint in the drive shaft.Do you notice a vibration
along with the noise?

Ford explorer making loud roaring noise at 35 to 45 mph

what year is your explorer, if it is a newer one say within the last 10 years it could be from either the rear end or it could be from a hub bearing in the front end. these have problems with hub bearings going out.
