Really weird, but here it goes, My Jaguar would not go into gear, tried reading all I could find on this issue, one forum mentioned a safety issue when your brake fluid is low, I filled the brake fluid and it went into gear easy as could be.

I'm having the exact problem! To get it in gear, turn key to unlock, put in neutral, start then in gear. That's as far as I've gotten with a solution to at least drive it. Next will check the brakes...yeah it sucks! Hope there's better advice commong...

The amber ABS warning light is telling you that there is a problem with the ABS system. When the antilock brakes don't work you just have good old fashion non antilock brakes. When the red brake warning light is on it could be a couple of things. (unless you are talking about the brake light on the back of the car is stuck on) the red brake warning light on the dash tells you when the parking brake is on and it also tells you when there is a problem with the hydraulic system. Some cars will also turn this light on when the brake fluid is low, (not sure if the Cavalier does this)

The ABS system is computer controlled and needs to be scanned for trouble codes to diagnose the problem.

I can't say I have ever heard of a "brights" indicator flashing, Do the headlights go bright and dim as it is flashing? Is it a slow on and off like a turn signal or faster than that?

Abs warning light on after trailer with bad electrics was attached

Check your brake lights and see if they are working. there may be a blown fuse. Also make sure that your trailer hook-up on your car is not causing the barke lights to stay on all the time.

If this does not find the problem, your ABS light being on may not have anything to do with the trailer being hooked up. You will have to scan your ABS module to find out why it has turned the light on.

Trailer brakes

Take a 12 volt test light... the kind that has a spring loaded clip to hold the probe into the wire, and insert it into the wire just before the trailer plug, vehicle side. (Blue I think) If there is a connection, the brake should see it and you should have an indicator light. When you activate the brake the test light should lite up. If not, move up to the brake actuator and test the blue wire. If there is nothing at the actuator, check the black wire. It is power to the controller. If no power there, check fuses again. If it does pick it up at the plug, connect the trailer and test the trailer itself. First ground to the trailer and then to the truck. Most problems are ground wire related. Then move to the axle and test it there. For the brakes to work, and even show on the indicator, there has to be a ground and power to the brakes themselves. There are 2 wires to each brake... a ground and a power. Test across both wires to make sure you have power and ground. You can also hook another trailer to your truck or another truck to your trailer. Lights can work through trailer ball ground. Brakes can't. leave the trailer unhooked from the trailer and hook the wiring up and test the lights. That usually will indicate a good or faulty ground. Also make sure there is a GOOD ground to the truck frame/body. Also try http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx. They have a great website with lots of info. Hope this helps. Mike

Hooked my 2007 Sprinter camping trailer to the factory lights/brakes hook-up located below bumper of my 2005 Silverado 4x4 extended cab truck. Everything works fine except for the right trailer turn...

Is this a 4 way or 6 way connection system? If your truck is wrong, then all factory equipped trailer package harnesses would be wrong, tell your trailer guy...I don't think so.
Is this the first trailer you have hauled?
Let me know, and we will go from there.

Can't put van in gear

If the trailer had trailer brakes, and you hooked them up,and unhooked them,it could be a short circuit in the trailer brake connector.

Not sure

Do you get a flashing ABS light or BRAKE light along with the beeps? If so, this is indicative of an ABS failure, which is either a wheel speed sensor or (much more likely) the ABS controller. I've had an ABS/wheel speed sensor fail on my A4 and I had no beeping, but people I know have had the beeps and had to replace or rebuild the ABS module. If you do have this problem, go to www.modulemaster.com and call them - they can rebuild the ABS module for a couple hundred dollars give or take, versus several times that cost for a new one.

If you are only getting the beeping, but not the lights flashing, it could still indicate this failure, but Audi usually has the cars set up to indicate what is wrong by flashing lights as well as the beeping, to help you see what the problem is.
