Am having trouble with 86 oldsmobile deltabrougham. cranking replaced ign module, coil pak, spark plugs and wires still no fire what am i missing

Coil pak not firing 97 lesabre 3.8 relaced non firing pak, didnt help.


If three coils plugged into ignition module, and one isn't firing. One coil fires two plugs, when you remove that one coil, use a test light at ignition module primary terminals, where that coil plugs in, have a helper crank it, if the light doesn't flash, replace the ignition module. You may want to disable engine so it won't start. I can't think what else it might be? I've seen this problem before, at that time, it turned out to be the ignition module that was faulty.

Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good.
If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse.
If you having a problem with more than one system, I want to check for rpm signal, that usually comes from the crank sensor. Not sure why you replaced cam sensor? I always want to check sensor wiring circuits before replacing anything. Don't replace anything unless your testing points in that direction.

What year Olds ? What engine ? 3.8 , 3.1 ,3.4 ? Is there spark ? Pull both plug wires off of one of coils an crank the engine , is there spark ? No , ignition module bad , probably ! Videos on you tube testing GM waste spark ignition system .

87 oldsmobile toronado not getting any spark


ECM requires both crank sensor signal and cam sensor signal to fire the coils. Check for spark at the plugs first. Check the plug wires, then the coils. Only if you have no spark at any coil would I suspect the ignition module, and even then only if you have a good crank and cam signal. Do you have any codes stored in the ECM? They could help pinpoint the problem.

Won't start no spark


Check all your fuses, under the hood and at the fuse panel for ign fuse or ecm fuse and make sure they are'nt blown, then check for power to ign module which is under the coil paks, should be pink wire. good luck...sounds like maybe your ign module or crank sensor may have gone bad.

Customer stopped to get gas and car wont start. checked and has no fire


sounds like your ignition coil or control module are shot. Either can cause this problem.
If all plug wires are dead, no spark, and the module has power and ground suspect crank angle sensor. Of course sensor will break opon removal from engine block 4Cyl but in VA NAPA sells the sensor for $9.00. On the distribitorless system the crank sensor, module, and coils are all piggybacked in the same location, back of engine and is very difficult to service. When I was working as a auto tech we had allot of trouble with crank sensors and ign coils.
Before you jump to any conclusions. If your starter is cranking the engine at a normal speed(use your judgment), and you preformed all test for spark, such as pulling wire off spark plug and connecting positive end of volt meter into plug, and negative end to ground, you should see a definite deflection on an analog meter. All test and still no spark. DON'T forget to check your fuses and fuseable links in the starting and charging system. THIS must be done first. 50% chance, this is where your problem lies.

Where does crank sensor wiring harness connect to after it comes from crank sensor


wiring for the crank sensor goes to the ign. module & coils- it triggers the coils & module to fire .

I have a 97 plymouth voyager van that dies out while going down the road we have replaced that converter, plugs wires cap rotar and it is now saying multi mis fires is it a bad o2 sensor


well you might have"bad ign wires" or bad ign coil!!!!O2 sensor wouldn't do that usually miss fires is wire ,coil, broken or crack porcelain on spark plug usually done on installing them!!!!!! I know the three spark plugs closest to fire wall are not easy to get at and some time spark plugs get cracked and over looked good luck
