When I turn my Jeep Liberty heater on, it smells like something electrical is burning. When I turn the heater off, it stops. Any idea what could cause this?

The heater inside the car takes the engine heat of your car and help in heating it that is why this smell is coming

Burning smell from heater when on high & fan on low

burning antifeeze, do you do 2 years AF service, or wait for the core
to rot thru.???
when the AF, gets old it goes Acidic. this eats the core,(heater) and
then it drips, and stinks.
or something died in there, (mouse)
or is the fungus growing.... sucked in from A/C evap. side? >???
or some chuck of sealant in the heater box hit the core and stinks
at 180F temp.
for sure it real,, you nose , KNOWS.

Smelling antifreeze through the vents of my 2004 jeep liberty not strong and then it goes away

If you smell antifreeze from the vents the heater core is leaking, you will most likely also have residue on the inside on the windshield

Heater and aircon not working, loud rattling noise and smoke from vent, now not power to fan

It appears your fan itself burned out. When a field coil of an electrical fan burns out it usually makes a lot of smoke. The noise could be something that fell in there that stopped the fan from turning freely. I can imagine it heated up under the strain and burned out.

When you restarted it was burnt out so hence no noise and no fan.
The smell of the smoke should also be clue. Electrical field coils burning has an awful soury type of smell.

Burning smell coming from my 2003 jeep liberty smells like a burning candle. Looked under the hood and the smell appears to come from a little electical box mounted on the passenger wheel side

I would take it to a shop right away. Do you see any fluids on the ground after you park or are you low on coolant or oil? This could be a electrical problem on its own. If you don't know what your doing don't go messing around with it.

I have a 2003 with 140,000 with the same problem and cannot find a solution. I have to idle the engine high to get the heat to blow hot air as well.

If you smell coolant, there probably is a leak somewhere.
