I just put new rotor and cap, plugs and wires in my 1988 ford f150 4x4 and it seems to be out of timing, how do i reset it properly

If you did not remove the distributor, the timing should have stayed the same. The only way it could be out of time is if you put the plug wires on wrong. I do not know the wiring pattern for ford motors but you could find it from your dealer.

First thing you need to do is when it stalls out, determine what it's not getting (fuel or spark) then once that's been isolated you can do some testing to determine why. If emissions system isn't working properly it can influence running...check and find that problem as well.
