I could not find this info except that it is in the fuse panel.
Open the driver's door and look about middle ways down on the side panel. You will see the fuse panel door about 4" x 4" in size.

The location of a 2002 chevy cavalier cooling fan sensor

The cooling fan is controlled by the PCM - powertrain control module through a relay ! There is no cooling fan sensor , there is a coolant temperature sensor ! This coolant temperature sensor is an input to the engine computer , if there were a problem wit the sensor the check engine light would be on .
Cooling Fan Control
The engine cooling fan system consists of one cooling fan and one relay. The relay is powered by the battery positive voltage circuit and controlled by a switched ground from the powertrain control module (PCM).
During operation, the PCM supplies the ground path for the cooling fan relay through the cooling fan relay control circuit. This energizes the cooling fan relay coil, closes the relay contacts, and supplies battery positive voltage from the cooling fan fuse through the cooling fan motor supply voltage circuit to the cooling fan. The cooling fan motor is grounded through its own ground circuit.
The PCM commands the fan on under the following conditions:
?€¢
Engine coolant temperature exceeds approximately 106?°C (223?°F).

?€¢
A/C refrigerant pressure exceeds 1310 kPa (190 psi).

?€¢
A/C is requested and vehicle speed is below 100 km/h (62 mph) with A/C pressure above 1413 kPa (205 psi).

?€¢
Vehicle speed is less than 8 km/h (5 mph) for more than 750 seconds. The fan will turn off when vehicle speed is greater than 8 km/h (5 mph) for more than 20 seconds.

Engine coolant fan wont come on. The fan motor is fine. whats next?

You still have many other components in that system that has to be in working order for the cooling fan to work properly. The cooling fan is turned on when engine temp reaches a predetermined temp, usually around 220-230 degrees F. the ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor siganls the ECM (Engine Control Module) to ground the cooling fan relay or cooling fan module(if equipped) and if the cooling fan fuse is good and the fan has power to it the realy will complete the ground for the fan to run. You may need to have a qualified technician diagnose the problem if the obvious things like fuses and good grounds are not the problem.

Hope this helps.

Cooling fan does not run?

At the main fuse and relay box, check the 30A EGI INJ fuse. If OK, the main relay closes to apply power to the cooling fan relay. Next, check the 30A FAN 1 and FAN 2 fuses. If OK, power is being applied to the fan control module. The PCM processes engine coolant temperature sensor input and sends a signal to the fan control module which, in turn, causes the cooling fan motor to operate. Fan failure could be caused by malfunction of the cooling fan relay, the fan control module, the engine coolant temperature sensor, the cooling fan motor itself, or the PCM

I have tested the cooling fans and they work but when temp is half the fans wont come on where are the fan relays

the cooling fan relays are in the under hood fuse box . they should be marked on the inside cover of the fuse box lid . The cooling fans should operate around 215 to 230 degree's (when the car is stop at idle ) the fans should also operate when you turn on the a/c . the cooling fans relays recive a signal from the PCM (power train control module) to be commanded on The PCM use information it receives from the coolant temp sensor

Why wont the fans turn off? we had a new radiator installed and therasat.

if the car does not call for more cooling. then it may be a bad relay in distrubution box, or a bad coolant sensor. the fans are controlled by the pcm ( powertrain control module ) it gets its info from coolant sensor. that tells how warm or hot coolant is. try the relay first it may be sticking closed. have a good new years !!

06 vue cooling fan wont shut off tried new relay swich and the 40a fuse is obviously good. what could it be, temp sending unit?

The power for the fan comes from 2 relays in the
junction block on the left fender. One is a high fan relay 40amp the other is the low fan relay 20amp.
If either one is stuck, it will power the fan. Also if the
engine coolant temp(ect)sensor is bad, it can send a
false signal to the engine control module(ecm) and powering the fan. With the engine cool, if the fans still
running. Unplug the ect sensor(on thermo. housing)
if the fan stops replace the sensor. If not pull the relays one at a time. And see which one stops the fan. If none of this works it may be an ecm problem.
Hope this helps.

1992 Dodge stealth cooling fans wont work

Unplug you're fans.. Take some wires, ( i used speaker wire2.gif. ) Have someone help you, :) connect it to you're fan and then to the battery one to ground one to power. If you're fan doesn't turn on then you're motor in the fan is dead.

2nd.Check you're relays, Easy way to do this is switch them around one byone... They can't all be bad :P and if it turns on.. then you have abad relay:P

3rd. Does you're Temp gauge work? There are a few sensors That could need to be replaced.

Dodge Caravan is notorious for failure of the electronic cooling fan control module (AKA cooling fan relay). This is not a "relay", it is a solid-state control unit, but many people call it a relay anyway.
It is mounted on the inside of the left frame rail just behind the radiator. You have to look up from UNDER the vehicle to see it. It looks like the picture below. The picture shown is very close to actual size.
