Question about BMW 530

1 Answer

Hi, I have a 2007 BMW 530i w/79K miles. Just replaced the microfilter, changed oil, and flushed brake fluid. I tried resetting the CBS alerts for the overdue service on the above using the trip odometer button, holding down for 10 sec, etc. However, I never get the oil can picture, but rather get some cryptic F1.1-7, F2, etc. codes, with mostly computer language. Further, playing with the switches on the direction indicator/mainbeam switch does not do anything. Is there any way to reset these? Would appreciate your insights. Thanks, Paul

2002 530i "OIL" microfilter - DOES THIS PART EXIST?

THe microfilter is just the filter. The oil filter is available off the shelf at advance auto parts. It's the original equipment German brand, "Mann". It's about $12.00. The price of $300 you were quoted is more the range for a transmission oil change, not engine oil.

Don't be confused about the word"microfilter". Again, it just means the filter, same as any other car.

Changing Microfilter for 2004 BMW 530i

hi, if you open the hood you will see 2 black microfilter housings on the left and right of the engine neer the windshield, on these you will have a bar clip, unclip these and the housing lid will be able to be removed, you then just lift out the microfilters and replace them, installing is the reverse of fitting, job done. hope this helps, regards mark.

BMW 530, 2004, how to reset the car to recognize the new filter

Hi aajabbar , this can be tricky if you haven't reset the cbs indicator before
first turn the ignition on so that you have all the ignition lights on and the engine not running, once the service indicator has cleared fom the display, press and hold the tripometer in until the display shows a triangle then the microfilter symbol, release the button then press and hold again untill reset shows, then release and press and hold again untill you have a sequence of lines on display, once this has happened release the button and turn off the ignition, once the ignition is switched on again the sevice indicator should have reset. you may wish to print these instructions and familiarise yourself with them before carrying out a reset. regards Mark.

Repair or item list for 50k mile service for my 06 530i

Probably the pollen filters as well, brake fluid and anti freeze. If this is your last free service with the dealer it pays to ask them if you can check the service schedule list for your car.
