Question about 2001 Toyota Tacoma

Open Question

I have a 2001 Tacoma 3.4L. Normal acceleration truck runs great. With medium to heavy acceleration there is a very noticeable misfire and hesitation and sometimes it will make a popping sound like it is coming from the converter. There is no check engine light and there are no codes. While driving the truck with my buddy in the pax seat with the Genesis scan tool in hand he is observing the data streams. I know this post is old, but right on the engine theres a sticker that says use multi-ground plugs only. I read a similar problem like yours and it seemed to turn out that the spark was arcing to ground over the ceramic on the plug. So maybe it could have something to do with the single ground plugs.

SOURCE: STUTTERS DURING ACCELERATION

throttle position sensor .. this lets the computer know just where your foot is on the gas .. It gets worn out in that position because that is where it is used the most. I would check it first then go from there... they are priced reasonable .. always start with the least expensive first then go from there. thanks Jerry holler if you need more

Check timing of the engine is right using an engine timing light. Make sure the timing belt or chain isn't worn or slack. The head gasket could also have gone and may need replacing.

The upper intake gaskets may be leaking. They are made of plastic and metal and will leak air. Do not remove the cover on very top of manifold when changing.
