Well, you unbolt the old one and take it out, but you knew that...The issue here is the weight, you really need a trans jack to get these components out, and it is tons easier in a lift. You may be happier having a shop do this job.

Part is Very heavy, truck needes to be on jackstands that can get it about 11/2 to 2 feet in the air , Remove the plate that covers access to the transfer case, Drain the transfer case of oil, and then you un bolt the drive shafts front and back. then remove the 5 bolts that hold the case to the rear flange be ready for for fluid to leak at this point and it should be ready to re move. You need a small trans jack Metric sockets and wrenches and a 12 point metric socket to remove the rear driveshafs and a universal swivel adapter. The transfer case goes in the same way it came out be carefull the part weighs 75 to 110 lbs.

this is always caused by a failed/worn out reverse clutch pack, you must remove the trans and have it overhauled to correct this failure.

Heater/ 1999 expedition Eddie Baur

the problem is caused by a sticking air temperature control blend door and or a defective intermittent blend door actuator motor, very common failure on this truck.
