If you have a 3 wire Alt :
you have to hot to the Bat.

than # 1 of the 2 pins goes to a switched hot (NOT to the Dist. the car wont turn off) this is what turns on the Alt. charging system
the #2 goes to the charging lamp on the dash

Relaced altanator / battery and battery cables but still wont charge

If you have replaced the alternator and battery there is not much left to check. Check that the light guage wire is connected to the alternator. Not the heavy guage wire that goes to the battery. There is always another lighter guage wire that is plugged somewhere on the back of the alternator which allows the alternator to start making power and is connected to the red light on the dash. If this is connected, then I would suspect that you have a wiring fault somewhere that is not supplying power to this wire when you start the engine. Next stop would be an auto electrician to look for wiring faults.

Chevrolet celebrity problems

fuel problems wouldnt cause electrical issues... most likely a dead ground (positive wire shorting against something metal) the only real way to find one is with a complete wire trace. I would start with anything recently installed (perhaps a stereo or amp). another good place to check is around the exhaust (these wires sometimes get to hot and ground when the coating melts away)

Trying to locate the fuseable link between the battery &the altanator can anyone help me with this

It is either between the battery & alternator or in newer vehicles in the fuse box. Older vehicle had them in the hot wire and they were a tube style fuse.

When I replaced the starter in 1992 chevy suburban the small wire that goes to the cylenoid is it supposed to have constant power?

If the wire goes to the alternator, then yes. The wire from the starter relay that goes to the "S" terminal of the solenoid should not be hot. There should be a large hot wire from the battery but there may also be a hot wire from the back of the alternator. These 2 would both go on the large post of the solenoid.

Hi, if the wire is connected by a nut on the back of the alternator it can go either to the battery or to the starter solenoid.

Have a 1998 chevy c2500 with v8 vortec. would not start one day , did nothing to it , but started 2 days latter. couple months later it did it again. had it boosted off and took it to have battery,...

Check the hot wire going to/at the distributor .. a number of these were crimped on the wires insulation/casing and not on the wire itself,,, it makes intermittent connection.
..This is hard to diagnose,, your symptoms are exactly what this causes... Good luck...

There is a wire that is with the ground to the altanator what does it go to

the alternator is grounded by the bolts and brackets that are attached to the engine-there is a post on the back of the alternator that should have a wire that goes to the harness near it, and that wire eventually ends up at the positive cable at the battery-that is how the alternator charges the battery.

I have a 2000 civic si. I had a problem with my battery so I replaced it. Still went bad. Replaced alternator, still went bad. Have no clue now. What might I b missing?

Did the battery go bad or down? Batteries fail if their overcharged, not charged, or dragged down from sitting with a draw on them. The altenater may not work correctly as a fuse may be blown. The big power wire on the back of the altenater is hot all the time the battery is connected. Make sure that it is. The plug that plugs into the altenator one wire hot all the time and the other is on with the key if itdoes'nt do that your on the serch to do that. with a volt OHM meter you can tell if it's charging 14.5 volts running and 12.6 volts sitting with the key off. if the battery is below 10 volts the altanator may be a good one but it's smart enough to not to try to charge a dead battery so it won't turn on. The liklyhood of the battery being bad even with it new is possible so don't rule that out.

The radio in my 2005 honda element starting cutting off and on. now the car wont start. battery seems dead.

replace the battery with a high RC/CCA rating at least 650 or above.
ck the altanator as well it might not be charging. the altanator should be at 13.5 volts or above and if it is not then it needs to be swapped out as well... go to oreillys and autozone to get the battery and altenator tested. replace the battery in your vehicle around every five years or as needed make sure the terminals on the battery are snug as well this could cause you to have a no start.. ck all conections on the back of the radio to make sure they are all plugged in, factory radios usually have issues when the wires and antenna on the back are not pushed in tightly..
