Question about 2004 Ford F150
I have seen this before. And I would almost bet your Battery Voltage at the starter will be 6 Volts or below 9 Volts. It is a combination of several things. There are some TSB solutions for electric problems but you need to get a code from a scanner. Autozone, Oreillys and Advance will scan for free. But your particular problem may not set a "check Light"
If your Battery is not fully charged, which would be 13.2-13.6 Volts, you can have problems from the Antitheft system. When activated the Antitheft system drops the Voltage to a level the starter will not work with, to prevent theft. Have your Battery draw tested and if replaced, only put in a fully charged battery.
Another thing that can happen is intermittent charging. Even with a jumper vehicle, your truck will start and within 3 minutes of having the boost removed your own truck will fail to charge. People have stalled their trucks at 70MPH or after driving for hours they have a dead battery. The dash Voltmeter will indicate a discharge but most people do not look at the gauges.
I suspect if there is a Battery Saver system in the truck, it is that system which may be breaking the power connection to save power from the drain. Unfortunately the drain is the engine running or the starter trying to work. So I suspect the Battery Saver can be a part of the starting problem too!
I hope my solution is very helpful to you. You need further testing to sort this out. I would like to know what you find out to fix this problem.
