Adding transmission fluid to my 2001 Lincoln LS

Have the car on, in park, emergency brake on. Under the hood, red dip stick. From line to line should be 1qt. This is best done when the cars warm. Add until the 2nd line. Get in your car, hold the brake, slowly put it in reverse, neutral, drive, 3,2,1 then 2,3, drive, neutral, reverse, park. Repeat a couple times to move the oil around, and you're good to go.

My 2002 lincoln ls is not responding to the shift changes i put reverse and take a while to respond and reverse same thing when i change to drive

Stop driving it, period

That is one vehicle you want to correct
right away

Remove the trans pan and replace the
Solenoid Control Pressure Pack
It is one part with all the solenoids in it,
and a common failure
It is about $332.00 wholesale
If you buy from a dealer or don't install
yourself, it will be pricy.

Putting car into reverse after having driven short

You need a new Pressure Control Solenoid Body. 9L2Z7G391A -solenoid pack for a 5R55S Trans. $332.20. at Trans Parts supplier. Don't even call a Lincoln Dealer for a price. They wouldn't even deal with me because I have a sales tax ID, and ask too many question. They will screw you over big time. That's a common problem in a long list of LS issues, my wife has one also and I used to have a Trans Repair Shop. It will slam into Reverse cold, Slip or flair on 3 to 4 Shift. Also expect the EGR Valve to go bad and make the trans issue even harder to troubleshoot, untill it works correctly. Drop the tran pan, remove about 7 screws and change the solenoid body. Best bet, go to a trans shop, never a dealer. Also get the old fluid out of there and put Mecon V in ,with a bottle of Red Lubgard Additive.

Lincoln ls transmition reverse

I would say that the fluid is just low and it takes longer to pick up the fluid in reverse. If fluid is checked on level ground and hot and is still indicating it is full, then I would check to see when the last transmissing service was done and when the servicing intervals are. You may need a new filter and fluid, relatively inexpensive compared to the alternative.
