Yes, there is a fuse and also a fusible link, an inertia switch and a couple of relays. Most of these electrical components will be in the relay box under the hood. The way I recommend approaching this is to first check the fuses, then probe the fuel pump relay socket using a 12 volt test light. With the test light clip on chassis ground, the 2 of the terminals in the relay socket should light the test light when the key in on, and one when the key is off. When the test light clip is moved to the positive battery terminal, probing the socket should yield one dim light when the key is off, and an additional bright light when the key is on. Whichever light is missing from these tests will identify where the problem lies. Please tell me the results of these tests if you would like additional advice, and thanks for using FixYa.

please note that the picture did not post properly. The part on the right should be below the one on the left, and connected to the fuel pump relay.

There is a fuse and a relay. Both should be under the hood. I would check these first but more than likely it's your fuel pump.

Could be your fuel pump or another common problem is it could be a dirty or collapsed fuel filter in the gas tank. If it's an electric fuel pump check the fuse first.

Not getting gas

Most fuel pump fuses will be five amp or smaller if the fuses are good could be a ground or bad fuel pump or relay and in some cases could be the brain box or ECM box

Hi my 2000 taraus is missing, gas hand floats, and emmission light is on. i was told i need a fuel pump, what do u think

I would think coils and O2 sensor for a car missing before fuel pump. I would check the fuel pressure before I would say fuel pump. But it is possible.

Where is the fule pump located and how do I get to on a 1996 ford

Hello baas60: My name is Roger andI will help you. The fuel pump on the 1996 Ford Taurus is located in the fuel tank. THe best way to access the pump is from underneath the car. You will need to drop the fuel tank in order to gain access to the pump. this is best done on a hoist. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received. This way I know it was helpful. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

One place to start,  Spark to ignition and power fuel are two different sources.  Unless they both work off the same fuse.  The fuel pump needs power to run the fuel pump, Ignition needs spark to fire the engine. Check your fuses because in my opinion it is odd that they both went out at same time.  Good Luck
