Hi:) When you first notices it you should have take it in to the shop that was a sine that the pump pressures where get low and needed some valve work now you will have to have the 3-4 clutch pack replaced and that mean a overhaul of the transmission. If it was checked when you first notice it you might have got away with replacing a valve body or pressure boost valve that you don't have to take the transmission out of the truck to do this but you do to overhaul it.

My 1995 Chevy Tahoe won't shift gears as I'm

Probably the speed sensor on the transmission. It would cause both problems. You should also have a check engine light with a trouble code for the sensor.

My van won't shift out of third gear

P0700 just tells you that there is a transmission fault code stored in the Transmission control module, you must now have that tested by the dealer.

The solenoid are under the transmission oil pan, the home mechanic can repair this issue, just make sure you replace all parts on the solenoid including the o-ring

I have a 1995 Chevy Tahoe with an automatic transmission which will all of a sudden not shift out of third gear. What is going on here?

check the wiring on top of the transmission. there is an electrical plug for the speed sensor, if it is loose, the veh will not shift correctly. get someone to remove it, reset the wires in the plug and clean the female end of the plug on the transmission. I have the same problem. It jumps from first to 3rd then back and forth then finally stays in 3rd. I pushed the wires in to set them in deeper on the plug and it seems to help.

Transimmision problem

If the unit was working before you changed fluid,This is common. When fluid has not been changed in a long time on high mile vehicles...(which is why many trans shops will not change oil after a certain mileage unless unit was serviced regularly) Usually it is caused by stuff that was sticking to the walls of the unit being partially dissolved by the new oil. The resulting free gunk gets into the valve body and prevents proper shifting. You may be able to solve this by having the valve body cleaned or replaced, and the unit power flushed. If not, it will need to be rebuilt.

1995 tahoe auto trans

Sounds like you may have smoked high gear clutches. Check your fluid and see if the color is darker than normal and smells burnt...
