I have a 1994 4runner and it keeps blowing fuse for gauges when I put it in reverse

Sounds like a wire being shorted out in the shift console. I can't remember how to take out the console, but it's usually as simple as a few screws in strategic places (including under or behind ashtrays, cup holders, and storage areas).

Replace dash cupholder

Hi. This is an easy do. With the cup holder fully extended, slide a flat puddy knibe into the top **** between the cupholder and the the dash. slide it side to side to disengage the stops that are part of the cupholder while pulling out lightly on the cupholder. It should come out without much effort. To reinstall, just push the replacement cupholder into the slot. Good luck!

Set parking brake.
Place tranny in nuetral.
Disconnect Negative battery cable.
Open center storage compartment.
Gently pry handbrake trim panel up starting at cup holders.
Gently pry shifter trim panel up and rearward.
Pull receiver trim panel away from dash.
Disconnect electrical connections.
Avoid Large YELLOW cables, these are the airbag cables.

Replacing cup holder unit on a 1997 toyota 4runner

Despite the other persons advice. on this part you cannot simply yank it out. You must remove the center console (where the stereo is). This is done by removing screws from behind the thin piece of plastic that has your temp controls etc. there may be other screws, but they are easy to find. pull the whole unit forward and then you will have access to the back of the cup holder. there are two "clips" that you can get to. depress them both and the old cup holder will come out. installing the new one may invovled a good shove from the front to engage the new clips. good luck!
