The OD solenoid in the transmission or the transmission control module is defective. It's also possible the torque converter clutch plates are worn. That's where over drive comes from
If you are lucky, bad shift solenoid (common failed part) may cause it to start in second. Other problem of no overdrive (ie: no torque converter lockup) could be as simple as misadjusted brake pedal switch or TCC solenoid. Where did you get this apparently bad transmission?
P0758 code is shift solenoid B electrical /2-3 shift solenoid circuit electrical, It better to inspect the wire going into the transmission they have a tendency to leak transmission fluid into the circuit make inspection for proper connection if you decide to replace the solenoid you still need to inspect the circuit for proper mating. If this solenoid fails and you wait to long to replace it you can loose the ECM due to the high power draw it takes from the ECM.
I had a simular problem.
Ended up changing the themastat and the gears changed into overdrive when the temp. got to normal running.
Be carefull that you get right thermastat though. You want one that reaches the normal working Temp as soon as possable.
Hope this helps.
