What is the size of a king ranch f150 2002 ford rear axle housing and it is a double cabin


There are 3 different sizes of axles available.(8.8")(9.75")(10.25") Most 2wd are 8.8" but you can get them in a 9.75". Most 4wd are 9.75" although it is possible to get it in a 8.8". And usually the 10.25" is reserved for 7700 series trucks. This is only a rough guideline as vehicles could be ordered with different options or the axle may have been swapped out. If it has 7 bolt rims then it is definitely a 10.25" and if it has 5 bolt rims its either an 8.8" or a 9.75". The easiest way to tell would be to check the axle tag. It should be bolted right on the rear axle housing. This will give you all of the information of the axle(size/ratio). If not you can give your local Ford dealer a call with the VIN# and if their friendly they will tell you.

the factory code build sheet label on the glove box door or the box itself
The code you are looking for starts with the letter G
That will cross to the ratio you should have
any general motors
dealer will explain to you what the stamped numbers on the right inboard axle housing is correct or not on yours

I have a 1988 Bronco with a drivers side rear axle and bearing problems. How can I find the right sized axle and bearings?


There's a tag on the rear cover. The most popular one on a full sized bronco is an 8.8 ring gear with a 3:55 ratio. However, The 5 lug axles are the same for the F150 and Bronco (not Bronco II) from about 88-96. The gear ratio doesn't matter. The axle bearing is probably in abundant supply in just about any parts store. The axles are plentiful at just about any salvage yard. There really aren't any options to concern yourself with. It's kinda like going to Baskin Robbins 32 flavors of Ice Cream...and they're all vanilla. You can check car-part.com to locate one near you and research the item on your own. I hope I've helped. Drivers side rear axle is leaking, not brake fluid, has disc brakes, what do i need to do to replace seal?


i will tell you right off this is a job for a qualified mechanic,the axle has to be pulled off first you jack up that wheel dismantle the brakes and rotor and behind the axle hub are four bolts that hold on the axle remove them and axle will come off the rear end cover does not have to come off and the axle fluid also does not have to come out,but now that axle is out you will notice that a wheel bearing is holding the seal in place this is pressed in you can buy these as a set at the dealer but must be removed by a pro. as not to harm axle and it has to be pressed back in

Escalade gear oil


Depending on which front axle, "F" axle is GM part #12378261 75W90 Synthetic gear oil, must meet GM spec 9986115
"S" axle is 80W90 gear oil GL-5 spec. I dont know how to tell you to ID which axle you have so I would recommend using Synthetic oil for both front and rear axles.
The rear axle is same as the "F" axle lube as above.

Rear axle bearing lock washer and nut coming loose


You may have incorrect axle end play. The left axle is fitted with a 1mm shim and an o-ring between the bearing housing and diff flange. The right bearing housing should be shimmed to suit specs. If the right axle has too much end play, it may try to walk.

Hello, and welcome to FixYa. Let me assist you as follows:
Removing the rear axle shaft is realy quite easy.
Her is what you need to do:

Remove the wheel/tire.
Remove the rear brake drum.
Remove the brake line to the rear wheel cylinder and plug the line.
Remove the park brake cable.
Remove the entire rear backing plate assembly; no need to remove the rear shoes.
When the backing plate is off, the axle shaft slides out of the axle housing; there are no "C" clips to remove, like on a Chevrolet. The axle is not held at the differential in any fashion.
Note that if you replace the axle shaft, you will need a machine shop to press the wheel bearings & seals onto the new shaft.

I cannot re-install the rear axle shaft on a !((# toyota four runner Sr5 as the shaft will not fully enter the differential.Do i need to open the differential to get a better look at the problem.Any...


Ok one inch is a lot.I'm thinking damaged spline or bent axle,not sure on how you removed the old bearing,Did you do both sides and mix up the axles and put the left on the right and the right on the left.Try to put the axle in to the point to where the axle just starts to spin with the drive shaft and see how much further it goes in.Maybe you have a bad carrier bearing causing the carrier to be slightly out of alignment.I have seen a few chevy trucks with limited slip differential that the axle had to be tapped in with a hammer (very soft hit).Should slide right in though.I don't know what else to tell you it is pretty straight foward.Did you drain the fluid out of the rear and was it clean or any chunks on the drainplug magnet.Let me know what happened and if you need any more help

Hi meduck4,heres what you need brother as I cant see your diff, 3 ways to tell what you have:
#1 The first is the driver's door tag; there will be a one-letter or one-numeral axle code listed there. You can then compare it to the chart below: CODE Rear Axle Ratio Conventional Locking 8 M 2.73 Y Z 3.08 F R 3.45 5 E 3.27 6 W 3.73
#2 The second is the axle tag, attached to the lower lefthand bolt on the rear axle itself. The bottom left line will give you the gear ratio, and the type of rear end (S for limited slip non-locking, and L for locking).

#3 The 7.5" rear axle height is shorter than the width and the shape appears "oval".
The 8.8" rear axle
dimensions are equal and the shape appears "round".

This will tell you what you have my friend,good luck
