You can check coil by coil, during engine switched, if the engine disturbe so the coil is Ok, if not ,i.e. if no effect on motor so the coil is bad and need to be changed.

Misfire #8 cylinder

this has individual coils for each cylinder, correct? Why not check for spark out the number 8 coil. if there is no spark swap it with another coil. If there is still no spark out the coil than the coil is bad. If the coil starts to work in the swapped coil location and the swap coil will not work in the number 8 position than there is a problem the either the wiring or the PCM.

No spark out of coil, it has power going to it ,coil checks ok on a 1981 dodge 2.2l aries

If your coil checks out OK, as you say, then the problem isn't the coil. How did you check the coil. Did you take the high tension wire on the coil off the distributor and ground it to the engine- and you got a bluish spark?. If you did, then the coil is working. Did you measure the voltage at the coil primary 12v. terminals and got +12v.
If all this checks out OK, the problem is likely in the distribor cap and rotor.

Changed coil in 1997 c1500. New coil wouldn't fire and now old coil won't fire. What could be the problem?

Check for 12v at red wire, if ok then replace ign pick up module ( usually green and yellow wires under rotor). or pick up coil. hope this helps !!

Have a vw golf 2.0 the coil brand new why wouldn't the coil fire

check the distributor. signal comes from there to activate coil. also make sure coil works and is gruonded properly. you can pull out the distributor and turn it manually to check if fire goes to plugs. if it still doesnt work you will have to check fuses/relays related to the ignition. not too sure which ones and if there are both.

hope this helps.

96 grand prix se engine problems

Your problem may be a faulty (shorted) ignition coil housing assembly (the white plastic cover housing the coils its bolted to the aluminum cover) change that along with the spark plug boots ( the boots are optional but I recommend it) that should get your Grand Prix running smooth. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help
