Question about Jeep Cherokee

1 Answer

It was working but now it's not. I would like to know where it is located exactly so that I may see if it's unplugged or dirty, and eventually change it myself.

2000 Lincoln LS hesitates and eventually stalls out

If the check engine light is on than the are trouble codes. I wouldmsuspect there is a lean or rich code. I would unplug the MAF sensor and take it for a drive. If the symptom improves on the test drive replace the MAF sensor.

Main beam flasher stopped working but main bwam still works what is wrong

Its likly the flasher control unit .Im not sure exactly ware its located on a Suzuki but most are eighter pluged into the fuse box or in whats called a relay center under the dask . its round maybe matlic or plastic and usely has to blade pronges that simply just unplugs and you plug the new unit in. If you want to know for sure if its bad unplug it make sure are unpluging the right one because usely 2 of them but 1 emergance flasher but its usely the same part # .So see if the emerg flashers work and switch it with the turn signal flasher and see if they work if so replace the bad unit there about 10 dollars

Check engive light on and terrible feul milage

Hello.
One of the most common causes for your issue is a faulty, or dirty MAF, ( mass air flow ), sensor.
Without knowing your year and model, this is a best guess.

If the MAF is causing this it's easy to check. All you have to do is unplug it to see if it helps your fuel efficiency.

Here a picture of a mass air flow sensor, it's not your engine, but one similar to help you know what you're looking for.

If you find that this your problem, you need to replace it soon, ( within a few weeks ), otherwise you may cause damage to other emission parts and eventually the catalytic converter.

I hope this helps you!
Thanks, Donnie

What doe's code P0171 mean

The error code P0171 means oxygen sensor in bank 1 detected a lean condition (too much oxygen in the exhaust). This causes because as follows:---
  • The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty.
  • There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor.
  • ---------
  • In the vast majority of cases, simply cleaning the MAF sensor does the trick.
  • Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if necessary
  • Check for a dirty fuel filter and proper fuel pressure.
  • ---------
  • The MAF is located in the air intake duct work, to the left of the air filter. Look for 2 wires leading to the sensor unit from the outside to pinpoint it's exact location in the housing/duct.
This will help.Thanks.Helpmech

Horn on 2006 taurus stop working yesterday - fuse is OK - what else could it be?

Check the connection at the horn. It could be dirty, lose or corroded. There may be a relay for it somewhere.
I don't where the horn is located, usually up front around the grill.
If you are handy, try unplugging the horn and run a jumper wire from the battery to the horn and see if it honks. I don't know if your horn grounds by the mount or of you need to run a pos and neg to it.

Location of speed sensor for 1998 silverado

You need to know which one to replace. They are located on the front wheel bearing hub assembly on the backside, by the brake caliper. It is held in place by one screw and the wire just unplugs. Rocks damage these and they quit. Hope this helps.

My SRS light comes on and off. I don't know what

It has to do with your airbags. Supplemental Restraint System. This light can be caused by a lot of things including any of the following:
  • Letting battery drain too low
  • Bad Sensor
  • Blown fuse
  • Unplugging the car’s battery
  • Removing the gauge cluster/installing aftermarket gauges
  • G-Force sensors that are under each of the front fenders ($250.00 each)
  • Bad clockspring (located inside your steering wheel)
  • Bad ECU
  • Bad reverse light switch on transmission
  • Car was in an accident
  • Airbag defective/unplugged

How do can I change spark plugs?

hi hillardgarne,

1. Purchase a wrench for spark plugs
2. pull the tension wires from engine.
3. insert the wrench until wrench gets a grip of spark plug
4. turn until plugs are completely loose
5. do this for the rest of the plugs
6. replace old with new plugs.
7. do the same thing but now, you tighten the plug (like screws)
8. return the tension wires

important:

* remember to know exactly the correct location of each tension wires, return to it's exact location (length of wires will help)
* as you take out old plugs, cover the hole where plugs are placed for it not to get dirty.
* in replacing, make sure that plugs are tightly inserted (not to tight though)

hope it helps.
