Question about 1992 Jeep Cherokee Sport

1 Answer

I replaced the relay switch, and checked all fuses. My odometer and speedometer, all the gauges on the dash werent working, along with the blinkers. Headlights worked. Then the next day all the gauges on the dash worked and are still working, but now the headlights wont turn on. Also still no blinkers. I have four ways, but not in the rear drivers side. I'm a girl and I'm doing this by myself. Any good sites with diagrams? I think I have to take the dashboard out etc not sure how to do that either. I'm on my own here. Any help is apprecaited.

Ok.What relay did you replace,?
I think that would be your turn signal flasher relay.
It all goes through a thing called the multifunction switch. You have 2 relays
1 for turn signal
1 for hazard(four way)
These do have an effect on all your problems.Except your headlights.
The headlights are on a completly seperate elect system
I wish I could send it to you but on page 12-24 of the Haynes manual.it shows everything that you need to know.
I respect that you are trying to get this by yourself. Please, any help I can give you, will be gladly given.Hope I can help you

How do I fix my gauges? (Ie, gas gauge, temp gauge, speedometer, odometer)

Fuses? Blown fusible link? Most gauges work by getting 12 volts from the ignition switch when on, and getting a ground from the sender. Often the 12 volt supply wire goes to more than one so if dead, both will fail. If you have a wiring diagram, you might find which wire to cluster should be hot, and trace it backward to find the issue. Easier to check for ignition switch feed first.

Odometer, tachometer, speedometer, and gas gauge suddenly stopped working.

Sounds like the body control module has gone bad. It has a relay that caries considerable current to all of these accesories and wears out.
It can also be a solder joint on the circuit board where this relay mounts.
Hope this helps, Robert

Lights or fuse for my speed odemeter guage and heater/air conditioning system

These lights for the dash are controlled by a rheostat instrument control dimmer switch next to the main light switch for the headlights, it is either turned off (have seen this dozens of times) or it is defective. Below is a picture of the switch assembly I speak of. The thumb wheel next to the knob is the dimmer control.

My odometer, speedometer, gas gauge, temperture gauge and rpm gauge do not work. I've checked the fuses but have not located a problem. What should I look at to evaluate this problem?

there should be a relay box under the hood on the right hand side it should say fuse/relay center under the lid is listed all the fuses and relays there should be one thats for the dash board

good luck!

Dash board gauges not working on voyager 2000

You need to check your main fuses under the hood first and then check them under the driver side dash board.

Everthing on my dash (speedometer,odometer,fuel

Blown Fuse or fried Circuit board. Take to a local AutoZone, Advance, Murray's, O'reillys or a similar part house for them to check the wiring. I'm assuming the van does not use a mechanical Speedometer or Fuel Gauge.

On the plus side, with no speedometer, your indicated odometer mileage does not increase. Just keep your speed down and your tank full. Kidding, just kidding.

Transmission wont switch gears and nothing in dash cluster works

this could be a relay or body control module as all things are controled electricaly in your van relays are under hood near front of engine ---did you check fuses first? relays next --even trans is controled electricaly
