Power loss in range rover p38 4.6 lt when going up hill

the p38 is a bit sluggish and slow on long steep hills, really not geared for performance but more as a piece of heavy equipment. strong horsepower wise very formidable powertrain but you're not going to have that get up and go that many drivers look for. couple quick suggestions you may want to check your plugs and wires a common weak spot in the ignition system, and i might suggest also running i can of seafoam through your engine. you deposit in your gas tank runs through with the half a tank of gas. i'm not a big advocate of fuel additives or octane boosters but in the case of seafoam it's definitely a worthwhile and proven product. don't forget also your sport mode button down next to your shift lever push that button down and it keeps your transmission from overdrive so you can accelerate into freeway traffic and climb hills without your transmission shifting

It wont pull its self up hill but will shift through all gears on a lift motor is strong been told it maybe the torque convertor

On the lift there is no load to the vehicle so that would give you the change of gears without problems and I think the tranny is guilty here. The torque converter is the culprit. Sorry, may cost you a pretty pinch. GE

I have had my water pump replaced on my 1996 Cadillac Deville and am still experiencing problems with the vehicle overheating and loosing large amounts of coolant. I have to add more coolant to the vehicle...

I would take a strong look at a headgasket problem. providing there are no visible leaks of coolant. You would notice the fans coming on due to sound or a visual check when motor is hot. You can easily tell if a headgasket is bad by checking the spark plugs, If one or more usually side by side plugs are looking very clean or white compared to the remaining plugs that is a sign of coolant being burned off in that cylinder indicating a bad gasket. also check your oil for a possible milky tanish color, oil level over full, this indicates a bad head gasket also. not necessarily will both happen at same time but it is possible to have both symptons at the same time or one or the other.

1984 bronco II dies when going up hill

If the vehicle dies going up hill it may need a tune-up or check transmission fluid level to make sure the appropriate levels are set. Sometimes when level is low it creates a hard pull on the transmission when going up hills.

Lack of power when climbing hills and slow to pick up speed

It sounds like your vehicle needs a major tune-up. Try putting in some fuel injector cleaner gas additive and a new air intake filter.

Loss of Power

Does temp gauge go up when this happens ? When was fuel filter changed last? If not recently, I'd start there.
