Question about 2005 Audi A4

1 Answer

Check engine light

I just purchased a 2005 Audi A4 2.0T and I noticed after driving a bit fast on a country road a check engine light with a lightning bolt through the middle of it popped up. It hasnt been doing anything funny, but I was just wondering if Audi has some kind of electronic warning if it revs to high or reaches a certain speed.

Nope, no check light is triggered by high RPM, unless you overrev and damage something. Go to AutoZone and have them do a code scan (a dealer will charge an hour's labor, but at AutoZone it's free). Post the codes as a reply here and we'll go from there.

Engine not starting; check engine light is lightning

the check engine always goes keyon. that means the ECU THINKS, its happy, (not dead the ECU)
it means nothing else, until running.
what year, car, and what country.

if car engine cranks fast but will not start.
then you always check for spark
since you fail to state car model , cant help more.

I currently drive an A6 and would like to buy a Q7 but I have heard so much about excessive tyre wear that I am reluctant to proceed with the purchase of a new Q7 Can I have your comments please? Have Audi...

On average, a set of front tyres, on a front wheel drive A6, will do about 25k,the rears do about 40k.
so when you go up to a quattro expect to do about 20 to 25k on a set of four.as,if driven hard, the extra grip on tarmac,on wet fast roads is fantastic, compared to any two wheel drive car.the only down side is you must NOT take your foot OFF the gas going round a fast wet road.(try one out and see for yourself).tottaly different driving style.

I have audi a3 05 when starting feels like no power or going to stall, esp light comes on and engine managment flickers on after the first run the lights go off????

VW engines intend to do this, even if you pull up at a set of traffic lights it will nearly cut out or go into high rev's. i have an a3 & once driving down the road @ about 50kpm, I lost power stearing for 1-2 seconds, stearing wheel went stiff. Audi are a good drive but needs lots of tlc. One other thing is fuel pump could be acting up a bit.

I too have the same problem on my 2005 1.8t B6. I noticed a hole in the breather hose coming off the valve cover that runs to another port under the intake manifold. I have the hoses on order and should be here on Wednesday. I'll post again if that fixes my problem.
