1992 Jeep wrangler started to run hot, pulled over of course, cooled down and went home, not even a block, now there is water leaking on the drivers side just below the valve cover? Any ideas?

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. You could be leaking coolant from the engine or a hose, even the cap. It would explain why the car is overheating. You need to check your coolant level and restore it to normal if it is low. You need to find out exactly where it is coming from in order to determine the next move. Make sure you check all your coolant hoses and clamps. Make sure they are tight and completely on. Make sure it is not leaking from the coolant cap. Make sure you add water or coolant before you start it. Start it up and observe where the water is coming from. Just because it is leaking, doesn't mean you don't have a bad thermostat or water pump. This is your first move though. Make sure your fans are kicking on. If they are not, check the fuse. If you have any other questions, let me know and thanks for using FixYa.

Im sorry to hear about your problem. What has happened is that you have blown a head gasket. They are not too hard to fix but where the problem occurs is that the heads nee to be taken to ma shop to check for warping. When the engine overheats to the point of blowing head gasket the heads may warp so that if they aren't checked, when you install the new gaskets they may blow out under normal condidtions. Before you attempt to change the gaskets have the heads checked and if needed just about any machine shop can bring them back to OEM tolerances. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

You're going to have to get in there w/a flash light , could be hose, frost plug or possible engine drain.

2005 Jeep Liberty 3.7L overheating

it's overheating, for sure,
is coolant levels dropping? cold checked at rad cap?
"pulled over and found a hose to cool the radiator and hose near the thermostat,"
i can not understand this statement"above"
if it overheat only parked, check fan for full ops.
if overheats moving too, wont stay cool moving fast
then:
bad rad cap
bad thermostat , they have 7 year life says STANT. (and why)
belts slipping (to water pump)
rad cores blocked (IR thermo gun it) ask
water pump impellers rust 1/2 gone?

all this assumes no coolant loss, if you have loss, tell where.,
where it leans
ground
passengers toes (foot well)
engine oil pan? milky oil
if A/T TRANS, check it for milky too.

Top radiator hose is HOT, radiator is steaming

have u replaced the radiator and hoses? Thermostat could also be stuck open. Water pump could also be your issue. with motor cool and of remove radiator cap(cap may be bad as well) top-off fluid and start car check for fluid flow with flashlight. Water pumps typically leak from what is called a weep hole when the shaft seal fails. Yours will be located under the timing cover (drivers side) running of the timing belt.
Hit me up after u have check on these.

MY WATER/TEMP LIGHT WENT ON

it could be some of all of that what is the millage on the car?
if the fan is running and the temp is still high and there is no leak there is probably no coolant flow which is most likely a thermostat or a block somewhere

I cant close the soft top on my rubicon.

I had this same issue the first few times I tried to latch my soft top. The trick is to stretch the top. Pick a nice hot day, leave the top "baking" in the sun for quite a few hours. The way I did it was to latch the front part of the top and pull the back corner pieces down hard and tuck the tabs into the body to lock them in place. The top will need to "bake" in the sun again for a bit. I wouldn't put it back down at night the first few times. As the night cools the top, it may go back to the original size and you'll be back where you started. I found that playing the "stretch" game on a hot weekend worked just fine. Of course, it's still a little tight, but if it wasn't, it would leak!!!

Good luck with your top!

94 jeep wrangler overheating

Have the cooling system pressure tested. If it holds pressure, that's a good thing. If it doesn't hold pressure, you may have a leaking head gasket. What may be happening is the crack in the head gasket could be blowing hot air into the cooling system causing it to overheat.
