You need to replace the fuel sending unit in your tank. To do this you do have to drop the tank. Good luck.

Gas indicator on dash droped to empty tank full

Check your fuse firstly. If that's ok, then check and clean the wires at the plug on the fuel tank.If no joy then your sender unit in the tank has failed.Remove the plug on the fuel tank and short out the wires and check to see if the Gage works.if so its not the Gage, its def the sender in the tank.

Filled tank today with Shell Gas 5mins late gas needle dropped to empty mark and fuel light started beeping. I pulled over and checked to see if my gas leaked out or what? didnt see anything. Turned on my...

weird...first thing to do is get a scanner hooked up to see what caused the check engine light-free, at pretty much any retail auto parts operation-i wouldn't get overly concerned with the gas gauge right now, teh code that tripped the check engine light might explain that problem.

Gas hand floats bad and reads wrong says full when empty and empty when full makesno sense...reads different all the time though

more than likely the sending unit in the gas tank, Could be very costly/hard to replace as you must remove the gas tank to get at the sending unit.
Very good set of instructions here:

Gas gauge was working went to put gas in started up after we filled up the tank gauge went up then droped to empty. have a gas sending unit that has failed....and yes it is located in the fuel tank...these GMs have had a very notorious tsb for the fuel tank pump and unit assembly failing due to design.....theres nothing you can do to repair this ....but you can replace this's kind of a bear with a full tank of gas if you're gonna be doing this yourself....on the ground...this fuel tank pump unit is found quicker and more reliably at the dealership. ...HOPE I HELPED!!!!!
