Question about 2001 Cadillac DeVille
As soon as the engine has started it takes a minute for the rpms to come down. Just recently it has began to make a high pitched wineing sound during this period. The noise goes away as soon as the engine has dropped to around 700-900 rpms, and does not return. Any idea's?
The whine sounds like the power steering or the alternator, as far as the idle issue goes try this clean the intake throttle body and idle speed control valve with carb spray, disconnect battery for 5 min. then reconnect and drive a few miles to reset idle strategy. The car will try to die when you spray the intake, hold the idle up to prevent that, use at least 1/2 the can of carb spray.
