Question about Mercury Mystique

1 Answer

My 1998 Mercury Mystique is making a noise from the engine area. It sounds like air coming through a hose. Auto Zone thought it was a blown spark plug so I replaced all the plugs and wires. That didn't help. It still make the noise and whatever is causing it is making the check engine light come on and slows the acceleration.

You have a vacuum leak at one of the hoses, the ends become flared over years of use, I clamp them, then tighten.

Follow the top radiator hose from the radiator back to the block. The thermostat is under the connection where the hose meets the block.

The heater and a/c quit working on my 1998 Mercury Mystique.

Could be a fuse/relay in the electrical box under the hood. Take the lid off and flip it over. You should see a diagram of what relay control's what. If not it will be in the owners manual or search it up on could be the fan/blower motor went bad or just the resistor for the fan/blower motor.

I have changed the fuel pump on the mercury but it will not start . gas is not getting to the engine . any suggestions?

Fuel filter is a possibility but that usually reduses the flow, not stops it. If you have access to an air compressor, blow air back through the system (from the fuel filter back to the tank, in an effort to dislodge any rubbish that might be blocking the line.
Just a quick thought, can you hear the humming sound of the pump working?
